Japanese Bud with more hops? Thatís really all I got out of this one; fresh hops and a big dose of wateriness.

Pale yellow, foamy head, weak malt aroma, thin palate with very little flavour. When I finished, I found myself craving a beer.

633ml brown bottle. Poured a pale pineapple yellow. Nicely formed creamy white head. Dryish, crisp malt aroma. Rather average flavour profile - lightly grainy, faint sweetness. Hard to pinpoint any hopping, finish is bland. Cleanly brewed, but stripped of any character.

A pale lager. Presumably rice or other adjuncts used (except in the commercial description...), which means not much in the malt flavouring. Yes, an easy to drink beer, with "no bitter aftertaste", but unfortunately, I like flavour and an aftertaste.

When did A-B start making this u/contract? This is not the 1st time Iíve had this beer, but itís the 1st time itís been brewed in LA by A-B. It might just be me but the quality has slipped a little bit. Maybe Iím biased... Clear golden, head is gone in 30 sec. Smells like Bud, tastes very light...goes very well with Teriyaki.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2012 Review Update: So Iím trying to re-visit beers that it has been years since my last time tasting and this is one of them I absolutely hated when I first had it 7 years ago. This time around I had it fresh from a bottle at a sushi bar and not from some dusty old stock liquor store. Aroma is much more better my second time around with a semi sweet scent of bread and grains that actually smells appetizing. The drink itself is much more flavorful than I remember even though it doesnít taste as refreshing as an Asahi or Sapporo. For sure hits the spot on a hot summer day and goes down easy with raw fish, ginger, and wasabi. friday, may 06, 2005: Original rating A:2 A:1 F:1 P:1 O:2 = 0.7 Looks like piss in a glass with some floating pieces of dust. No head and the aroma is that nasty pale lager smell. Dissgusting to drink and just a horrible beer to have a mouthfull of it.

What the heck is this, Japanese Budweiser? Itís not as thick tasting as Budweiser, but it clones it in every other respect: rice in the nose and in the flavor, weak hops, paltry malt, and some weird straw aftertaste happening. Only rated better than Bud ícause itís not Bud, and it goes good with sake. Sake bomb! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ACE FREHLEY!

Ligth golden with disapearing white head. Bitter sweet aroma with a hint of alcohol. Refresing taste with growing bitter sweet aftertaste.

UPDATED: APR 27, 2005 Bottled. Pours a light golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet malty. Taste is malty, and ever so slightly hoppy. Medium bitter sweet aftertaste

A very light and an obvious cheap beer... despite all this Kirin Ichiban is an enjoyable ale. Its so smooth and to top it all off... there is an obvious vanilla hint in this asian delight. I definatly canít complain!
