UPDATED: JUL 11, 2007 A little weak and the flavor and only slightly better than average. I am not sure if rice is in the mix but I swear I taste it in there somewhere. Very malty and dry. A compliment to Asian food but not something I want to drink often. A not very memorable beer.

Bottle. Pours a pale, clear yellow body with a small bone white head. Very weak grassy, malty aroma. Flavor is malty, grassy, bland. Not a very good beer. Harsh aftertaste. Eeeehhhh.

This was a rather impressive brew--not really surprised though. It was rather plain--you can taste some hops and a bit of malt. Goes well with food. Singha is better, though.

Yumi, Excelsior, MN 11/19/2004 in 12 oz bottle. This is a rather middle of the road lager that perhaps stands out more than others as being good with sushi. Bottle pours a rather pale yellow with very little head and no lace. The aroma is mild and Pale Lager like. The flavor is somewhere in there, just can not seem to find it very well. The palate is thin and fizzy. Overall, very low end.

Itís hard for me to judge this one. Solely as a beer on its own, itís not very good. But I love it with sushi, I think it balances the flavors extremely well. And I have to give it props on the appearance. The head is pretty thin, but what little there is actually leaves a moderate lacing. Not too much hops, and kind of thin in general, but something about this and sushi gets me going. THis rating is probably higher than what the average drinker will think of it, and if I never tasted it with sushi, itíd be getting a much lower score from me.

Pours light gold with not much head. Weak stale aroma. Malt taste. No hops. Watery. I thought this stuff was going to be bad, but it was awful. Nothing to it.

"Brewed under the strict supervision of Kirinís brewmaster by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Los Angeles, CA" 24 0z. can, with the mythological Japanese deer/dragon beast striding diagonally up the aluminum container. Color, a transparent bright yellow, with a prodigous, fluffy, bone white head, that hastily, noisily crumbles.(Perhaps the head size was helped by the enormous Weihenstephaner glass I poured it into?) Aroma: rather dull and dry, and perfectly in step with a typical cheap lager smell, and am I smelling the rice? Is there rice? Taste will tell... Very smooth on the palate, to a fault, to the point that itís existence barely registers or makes any impact upon the senses at all. Body is so light light that it rings hollow at every turn. Thereís is a decent texture, I admit, a nice grit and play on the tongue and lips, that makes it a far more bearable beer than many ordinary lagers, but...I canít at all detect the "complex character of one of the worldís premium beers." Youíve got to have a narrow definition of "beer", and "premium"...and "world"... Drinkability? Yeah, you can drink them, if youíve got nothing better to do, nothing better to drink, and a mean streak of masochism...

Light golden lager color with white head. Very light hops in the aroma, mostly a typical pale lager scent. Flavor is fresh, lightly sweet, and clean, though weak. Good crisp, clean, sparkling mouthfeel. Not bad, especially for a beer contract-brewed by Anheuser-Busch. A good complement to spicy Chinese dishes.

Pours a golden body with a sudsy white head that quickly disappears. Mild, mild malt & grass aroma. Smooth, watery. Itís got a sweet sticky kind of flavor, mild malt with the faintest hint of hops. Clean finish.
