Poured from 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Appearance: pours a 1+" white head which quickly recedes with little to no lacing. Color is clear pale straw with moderate streaming carbonation. Aroma: yeasty bread dough, lightly toasted barley malt and some grassy/herbal hop. Mouthfeel: light and slick with a quite dry finish. Flavor: cracker, sweet barley malt, grassiness, bitter herbs. Overall: a decent and enjoyable lager, but not outstanding.

12oz bottle puts a clear yellow amber. Aroma is a unique light malt with hints of melon. Flavor is slightly sweet. Not bad.

Nice, clear beer with a firm foamy top. A slightly hop-like aroma, but not to much. It tastes a bit "umami", which is unusual for a lager. It has a somewhat bitter palate, but doesnít last long. Mooi, helder pils met een mooie witte kraag. Een lichte hoppigheid in het aroma, maar niet overheersend. Aardige metaalsmaak, wat voor een pils ongebruikelijk is. Iets bittere nasmaak, maar vervliegt snel.

There is nothing to this brew. It is aroma-less, looks pale bordering on clear and tastes thin. The finish is slightly floral, short, and probably the cleanest I have ever tasted. This is not necessarily a good thing as there is absolutely nothing memorable about Kirin Ichiban.

Backlog. Tried it bottled. Just your standard mass-produced lager. Nothing to get excited about.

Very clear pale body with low head. Aroma is light malty, fruity, pretty weak. Taste is very light sweetness with light earthy bitterness. Nothing in the taste, nothing in the palate. High carbonation makes it at the drinkability higher, body is medium.

Pours clear gold with a small fluffy white head. Aroma is grass, citrus and hay. Taste is sweet and crisp. Light bodied and inoffensive. Good with Hibachi!

I drink this when I go to my favorite Japanese kitchen. Not every time, but more frequently. The other option is Sake, which has been wearing on me since all I taste anymore is wallpaper glue and alcohol. So I drink Kirin for the carbonation and sweetness. Some times itís brash and corny (you can call that crispy), but lately itís been more "smooth", as people say. Itís not Coors-level lager, at least. The malt is a bit wonky and a corn note is noted, the rice cake and saccharine resemblance is there, but itís not all that dirty. Light body, medium sweetness, medium-low bitterness, some times carbonic. It isnít good enough to buy anywhere else, but it is good enough to buy for the bubbly neutral accompaniment to food.
