Finest barley malt, premium hops, smooth finish, no bitter aftertaste.

Editor's Note: Also brewed in the US: "Anheuser-Busch began brewing Kirin Lager, Kirin Ichiban and Kirin Light at its Los Angeles brewery in 1997. The agreement marks the first time Anheuser-Busch has produced foreign brands for sale in the United States."

I usually only get this when I am eating sushi or something, so decided to buy it at the grocery store to give it a try in the comfort of my own home. Actually, I was going to cook with it, but elected to go with another beer so got stuck drinking this 24 oz. can tonight. Poured it into an oversized wine glass. Has a clear golden color, almost identical to the gold in their Kirin label. The aroma is a little skunky, but taste isn’t all that bad. Barley, malts, and other sugary flavors. A little metallic, but not too bad. The aftertaste is actually what saves this beer, smooth and sweet. Not too bitter as I would expect from the skunky aroma. Just recently found out owned by Anheiser, and brewed in California, so not really a Japanese beer. I totally agree about going with Sapporo instead. Might have to drink that next time I eat Sushi so I can get a fresh review in.

This beer was alright. It had a pale yellow body and was very light. Theres usually not much to say about a pale lager.

Bottle Grainy, ricey, some hoppy notes. . Light gold. Thin white head. Lotsa bubbles. . very light flavor with very slight bitter start and hints of malt/sweetness in the short finish. . light body, watery, prickly carbonation. . Summer beer! Not something that I’d go out of my way for, but for the asian style, pretty typical

12 oz. bottle. Deep golden with nice white head. Lacing OK. Not a lot of flavor, but at least it had some (re: Sapporo). Malty, no discernable hop flavor or aroma. Equal to the best US macro. Compared to other choices at the Japanese steakhouse in which I tried it, it was unfortunately the best. Not too bad, not too good. And definitely not "just right."

Although not remarkable, it was enjoyable. Pours pretty much like a typical American macro. Slightly hoppy aroma, that drinks easy with a light malted corn taste and a crisp dry finish.

This is what I usually order when I eat sushi. I’m not sure why because it’s not that good but I guess I want to get the whole Japanese experience. Ugh. Anyhow onto the the review: Pours a pale golden yellow with a fizzy white head. Not much aroma to speak of, grainy and corn malt. Flavor is typical for a lager. Light and unflavorful, but I do find it to be pretty crisp and refreshing. Thin, fizzy. Quick finish. Not bad for the style though.

Pale color, a bit darker than a pils. Dry taste with hops aroma striving valiantly to rise above adjuncts.

Not the worst macro in Japan - it does has some taste, but you wouldn’t drink it more than once.
