3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another watery, dry, yet appetizing and refreshing Asian pale lager. Good carbonation. I could taste the hops and maybe rice (?) while supping it. Kirin Ichiban had a mellow, squash-tasting finish. Interesting... Recommended with Japanese food. as it quenches your thirst.

Bottle at Yamashiro, Hollywood Hills, Calif. A nice light lager, with proud head, that complemented my excellent sushi well. A tad sweet, malty with watery finish.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to get this beer unless its the only one at a Japanese or Chinese resteraunt.
Looks good, and tastes OK.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft - This is golden, and flat. Not much head and it reminds me of a Bud or something. I was not enticed by its appearance. The flavor is oddly complex though. Unlike American standards it has a full flavor for such a light beer. It has little aftertaste. Each sip has you looking for deeper flavors. Overall it was not bad at all. I would drink again.

Japanese equiv. of AB or Miller. Growing up in Japan, this beer gets high marks (for a macro) from me for mostly nostalgic reasons.

Don’t know that I could tell this from regular Kirin lager.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Watery pale lager with very little to go on. Slightly sweet and refreshing on a hot day and not much else.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a crisp gold with a small white head that is short lived
Aroma is very faint but a slightly malt and sour note is apparent.
Crisp and, lightly carbonated. A little heavy for a light lager

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this one yet. It’s a good match for sushi, but not much else. Straw yellow pour, shrinking white head. Lots of corn in the flavor. Taste testing blindfolded, I hope I could distinguish this from a US macro.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: FEB 3, 2005 Cheap yellow gold pour with a flimsy white head. Unimpressive and unnatractive typical pilsner aroma. Rice and grassy hops in flavor. Sushi would be the best part of this meal...not so much the beer.
