1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottled. Clear, almost golden beer with a small white head. The aroma is weak, with just some fruity notes. The flavor is weak as well, with some fruityness, hops, grass and malty hints. Medium body and a hop-fruity finish. Could’ve used a lot more of everything. (070106)

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Draught. Gold colour with thin white head. Some dead pale malt aroma, some odd citrus fruit. Can I taste rice and maize? Certainly some adjuncts in this. Then a sickly prickly finish. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Too gassy and flavours are indistinct

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Slight unclear with a white fading head. Fruity malty aroma. Thin palate. Taste is again quite fruity & fresh. Its thin like a lot of other mainstream lagers but it doesnt have Grain/corn & hay all over it. Light hops in the end! Drinkable!

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep gold colour (like a Bohemian pils). No real head, though. Slightly malt and oily, but only slightly so, like a very light Bohemian pils. Moderate body. Much softer than the regular Kirin Lager (which I just had). Maltiness dominates, but is not particularly well-extracted. Light grassy bitterness and continental hop undertones complement the malts. Not bitter enough to be a proper pilsner, but it has many of the same components. Decent.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A: The pour is a light golden straw color with a voluminous white head that settles down to a thin layer.
S: The nose is sweet and lightly grainy with notes of rice in the background that become more prominent as the beer sits in the glass for awhile. Pretty standard and unoffensive.
T: A similar story with the flavor. Plenty of sweetness with a definite adjunct taste, but it’s a fairly mild and crisp beer, not like the adjunct lagers of this country.
M: Light in body with a lively level of carbonation.
D: For what this beer is and the meal I had it with, it worked quite well. I don’t really think I’ll be sitting down with a sixer of Kirin Ichiban all the time, but it’s a nice light beer.
