3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bottle at the Cheese Factory in KC. They have a number of Boulevard beers on menu as well. Pours a beautiful deep straw colour, head dissipates quickly, not much lacing, persistent carbonation - this is the sort of beer you drink in a tall flute glass, slightly yeasty fruity nose- distinctive pears; very dry, a tad bitter, does not have the salty CO2 of many US pale lagers; quick finish, good sparking carbonation. Good example of the type. This bottle brewed in Japan. I was in Japan when it came out, the can pictured here is a garish example. It was well received by the expat community. The scores here reflect a snooty beer-bongers snootiness. This is an excellent example of the style. The fact that I only drink a bottle of this every few years is irrelevant.

It’s a good beer to drink with a burger or pizza. Real light but goes down well.

Malty, very German (Axis exchange of brewing technology?) Not bad at all, but would be best with food; I tried it by itself. The 24-oz can is cool.

For a lager, this one has a fairly full body. Short palate, but definately better that U.S. lagers.

Ok - so the main reason I reviewed this beer so highly is that it is the best beer at the HEB supermarket for under $6 per 6-pack. This isn't a flashy beer, it is very functional. It compliments a Hibachi steak very well. It is one of the few beers my wife and I actually agree on. Light enough for her, tasty enough for me, and less than a buck a bottle. Not a world champ, but something I like to keep in the fridge.

Probobly my favorite beer from the land of the rising sun. It is highly drinkable and sepecially goes well with sushi. Gold color and light aroma with no real lingering taste.

Kirin Ichiban has a very thick, white head and a clear, golden appearance with lots of bubbles streaming up and a decent amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is a typical, run-of-the-mill beer smell. Taste is grainy, sweet, and there is some hop bitterness showing up. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Kirin Ichiban finishes crisp, refreshing, and mostly dry. Overall, this is an enjoyable beer, and I highly recommend it.

A crispy, delicious and fine Japanese beer. It has a malty aroma, like cereal and hay. Also, a good body, good blond color, fuzzy and good foam. It tastes really good, sweeter than bitter. Good job Japan.
