Kirin Ichiban has a very thick, white head and a clear, golden appearance with lots of bubbles streaming up and a decent amount of lacing left behind. The aroma is a typical, run-of-the-mill beer smell. Taste is grainy, sweet, and there is some hop bitterness showing up. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Kirin Ichiban finishes crisp, refreshing, and mostly dry. Overall, this is an enjoyable beer, and I highly recommend it. RJT

A crispy, delicious and fine Japanese beer. It has a malty aroma, like cereal and hay. Also, a good body, good blond color, fuzzy and good foam. It tastes really good, sweeter than bitter. Good job Japan.

another beer with a thin, white head and little carbonation. however, it still has a nice, bubbly palate. there's a slight corn aftertaste...

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2007 Light to medium gold with a fair amount of white head. Definite lacing as I drink. Smell is of honey sweet malt mostly. Taste is refreshing, slightly watery, with a touch of bitter and sweet malt up front followed by a smooth lightly sweet rice-like finish. I really like this one, and it is definitely my favorite light lager. Very easy drinking and refreshing with a hot meal, or on a hot day and exactly what I’m looking for when I want a cold beer to cool me off.

Pours golden yellow with a short white head. Aroma is yeasty with a hint of rice, taste is slightly sweet, dry, with a hoppy finish. Overall a fine lager from Japan, way better than NL’s most produced beer ’Heineken’.

Had this on tap at the Blue Ribbon sushi place at the Cosmo hotel in Vegas. I usually drift towards fuller / bigger beers, but this rocked (especially in paring with the food). Tried bottles at home, also enjoyed. Good easy drinker. Nice malt.

Of course, this beer is great to drink with an Asian dinner. It’s smooth, and we think it tastes similar to Coors Light.

Decent, but I felt it was a bit weak despite still having a distinct taste. Maybe more an issue with alcohol content than the ingredients themselves. Unsurprisingly, it pairs well with sushi and may work with other Japanese foods as well.

Muy buena lager, se siente muy limpia en el paladar, aroma sutil y sin embargo se nota la presencia de malta, cambió mi perspectiva de las cervezas japonesas, mucho mejor que Sapporo en mi opinión
