Finest barley malt, premium hops, smooth finish, no bitter aftertaste.

Editor's Note: Also brewed in the US: "Anheuser-Busch began brewing Kirin Lager, Kirin Ichiban and Kirin Light at its Los Angeles brewery in 1997. The agreement marks the first time Anheuser-Busch has produced foreign brands for sale in the United States."

A bottle at the Cheese Factory in KC. They have a number of Boulevard beers on menu as well. Pours a beautiful deep straw colour, head dissipates quickly, not much lacing, persistent carbonation - this is the sort of beer you drink in a tall flute glass, slightly yeasty fruity nose- distinctive pears; very dry, a tad bitter, does not have the salty CO2 of many US pale lagers; quick finish, good sparking carbonation. Good example of the type. This bottle brewed in Japan. I was in Japan when it came out, the can pictured here is a garish example. It was well received by the expat community. The scores here reflect a snooty beer-bongers snootiness. This is an excellent example of the style. The fact that I only drink a bottle of this every few years is irrelevant.

Yup, this is a Kirin Ichiban. Typical Japanese lager plus a hint of hop bitterness. Still better than BMC, but not by much.

Bottle. Appearance: 1 finger white head, clear, straw yellow color. Aroma: floral, biscuits, light caramel. Palate: light body, average carbonation, thin texture. Taste: sweet malt throughout, light lemon citrus at the front of the beer. Overall, basic and drinkable.

330 mml bottle tasted on 05/09/2014. Light yellow colour with a low white and bubble head. Taste is watery with cereals. The best is the label and the glass. Next one please!

Light, easy drinking with decidedly malty backbone. Slight acidity takes away from the overall experience. No detectable bitterness.

Pint on draught at Extra Virgin Pizza, Singapore. Good head and carbonation. Nice golden amber colour. Light malt, but not much else on the palate. Close to a pretty standard commercial pilsner, but a good effort. Safe choice.

630ml bottle, was expecting much more, very pale gold colour with a fluffy brief head, the aroma is bigger than the watery mildly hoppy taste
