This Kirin Stout pours a thin black and is topped by a persistent cappuccino colored hear. Decent amount of lacing. The smell is very minimal. Whisps of coffee and chocolate with a metallic edge. The taste is light and bitter with a slight metallic finish. Hints of coffee. The mouthfeel is very light with a small amount of carbonation. Overall, this beer is ok but nothing special.

A standard Guinness copy without uniqueness. Nice caramel and roasted coffee beans in aroma and taste (somewhat). Nice dry finish but a bit thin.

Can at Kimi Ryokan, Ikebukuro. Black - offwhite head. Sweetness, roasted, light bitterness, licorice, fruity notes, dark choclate, light metallic.... well ok...

Can. Jet black, good frothy tan head. Very little nose. Some burnt malt, brown sugar, sourness. Pretty damn thin. Not awful, but would want a bit more depth to it before calling it a true stout.

Can@Home. Faint cola aroma. Black, beige/greyish head, good lace. Light sweet, light malty, hintsof cola and coffee. Thinnish. Cheap, more like a mediocre Schwarz.

From 350 ml can. Pours a dark brown with a lasting tan head. Mild roast notes on the nose. Taste is mainly roasted malt, with some chocolate hints. There’s a light fruity aftertaste as well. Maybe not the greatest stout, but not too bad.

Japan March 2012. Bought at Gourmet City somewhere in wherever I am in the burbs of Osaka for 210 yen. I also bought some random cooked food which I ate on the street. The brew is very dark brown with a modest dark tan head and ok lacing. Has a mild roast aroma, faint grain, hints of dull choco and a weak fruit note. The taste is pretty decent with nothing off. Mellow creamy roasted malts, light tangy zip, weak choco, that’s it smoothish, soft teeth. Yay!

Really different to be a Kirin beer. Color is deep chocolate, quite short chocolate palate.
