Marc (486) - Yokosuka, - DEC 12, 2007
Dark brown with a chestnut head. Fat molasses, coffee, burnt caramel and dark fruit nose warmed by a moderate amount of alcohol. A little thinner in the mouth then expected but very nice with all the stuff in the nose with strong warm espresso notes. Finishes roasty.

Rated Apr 2008. Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, husks). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Very simple and just a tad grainy; drinkable but dull.

Pours nice, ruby black with thick tan head. pretty good retention. Nose is weak, smells like a raisinette. Taste is tolerable, cocoa, ampm coffee, melted aluminum, roasted shoe soles. foul metallic flavor is hard to shake, could be good, but isnt.

Slightly aged bottle. Lovely, shiny black with a bubbly, high, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a bit of soy sauce. Creamy and smooth. flavor of chocolate and cafe au lait, with a well-managed bitterness, and berries. Very smooth, creamy mouth. Well done beer. Their best by miles.

Caramelly smell. Heavy coffee, molasses, slight banana-y esters on the finish. Not very smooth, but decently flavored. Meh.

Capa (1943) - Manama, BAHRAIN - SEP 21, 2007
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2007 Black with a really dark tan head. Roasted molasses malts, chocolate, and sweet malts in the pleasent aroma. Smooth medium body. Flavor is a more intense version of the aroma with the roasted, smoked malts really coming through. Chocolate, and molasses are also noticeable. Long roasted finish. This is a pretty good brew. The best Kirin has to offer.
