Tastes better than you’d expect, but it still can’t break out of the low-calorie happoshu mold. Buy this over its alternatives, but you’re better served by staying away from the category altogether.

World Liquor Nakai can. Pretty bland overall. Not offensive but nothing to hunt down. Honesty when I read "double" on the can I was hoping for a malt liquor tick.

Pours a standard golden clear. Nose is a watery caramel, floral hops. Taste Is mimicking an american pilsner. Tastes similar to bud with less of that corn flavor, slight bitterness with medium pils body.

Soapy, mild lemon grass. Very fizzy, light maltiness, grain, lemon, dirty watery finish. Quite empty apart from some weird artificial lemonish flavor, feels chemical overall like most other low-sugar happoshu.

From the can in shirakawa-go. Light grassy metallic aroma, could be the can. Lightbodied watery, a bit hay. Dusty finish, Meh

As a gout sufferer, this stuff keeps me in check. Seem to guzzle it faster than most beers. Not so widely available in the Tokyo combini’s however once sourced it’s on the table daily. It’s a haposhu (fake no hop beer) therefore its cheap. Don’t really drink from glasses in summer, prefer to keep it wrapped in a holder. Overall the low sugar and purine work well together to make a mellow flaqvor.

Another Kirin lager variant... thin on the palate, flatter and maybe a tad more acidic then the norm. Anyway it’s low on purines, which should be good for your health (purines are a source of uric acid).

Can. Pale yellow, short lasting white bubbly head, some lacing. Grainy bit Alkaseltzer aroma. Grainy rice mild flavour.

Can at K’s Hostel in Kyoto. Clear golden - white head. Soapy, perfumed, sweetness, soft body, wierd bitterness, artificial, watery, light grainy. Bad.
