3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (2365) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2012
March 2010: 500ml of bottle conditioned English bitter, poured into a vase shaped pint glass, carefully.
I bought this and two other, different bottles while at the Brewery Tap.
The beer is clear amber and an off-white creamy head sits on top, the head left some good lacing as the beer level sank.
The aroma is a heady mix of hops and yeast, couldn’t detect any malts in the smell.
The taste is mostly hop based too, giving the beer a true bitter feel and a tangy bite throughout the tasting.
The brewery only started up in Feb 2009, by four mates who liked Real Ale. This was their first beer brewed, I hope the other two I have to review are as good!

Gingery, but also very mashy aroma. Boring malty body - light grains - but the hops build up nicely and leave quite a sticky tingly finish.
