An authentic German style lager brewed with pilsner, dark-roasted Munich, and dark caramel malts. The result is a deep, golden-colored beer with smooth body. The best ingredients create the best beer. We use a bottom-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan yeast bank from Freising, Germany, and aroma hops from the renowned Hallertau region in Southern Germany. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 22 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

355ml bottle pours a very pale amber color with a finger of white head that leaves only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is cereal grains and grass. Taste is a grainy malt sweetness with some grassy hop bitterness. Only slightly better than a typical American macro lager. Nothing special and not recommended.

Metal infused caramel malt aroma. Light copper color, and oddly enough light copper taste as well. Aside from that it’s mainly corn syrupy sweet malt. Smooth and overall refreshing, aside from pinging a tad on the finish. Passable in the Vienna range, does not stack up against favorites Boston Lager and Brooklyn Lager.

Bottle from Kyoto Cosco. Deep gold to light amber. Fine, medium head. Malty nose, some caramel, a bit of diacetyl, light hop. Sweet and malty, but not overly so, grassy hops complement., with nice bitterness. Actually, it’s pretty decent. Full bodied. Balanced, great for the price.

pretty weak offering, the least enjoyable of this mix pack. Missing the maltiness I was expecting. it will do the job but I expected better.

Nope. This is atrocious. Chew on a piece of tin foil and pour yourself a bud. Same thing. Terrible!

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2012 bottle 12 oz, clear, golden/copper with ample lt beige head. The flavor is rather malty up front with a definite metallic taste followed by a rather pleasant, dry, hop bitterness (with some hop flavor) that lasts into the long finish. Not bad for cheapo beer. I’d probably buy it if I could get it without the other ales in the mixed case.

Poured a clear golden with a white head. Not a good German beer, but nice solid beer at a great price.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet cereal grains and some corn. The flavor is more lightly sweetened grains, spicy hops and some mixed nuts. The palate is smooth, crisp and full and the carbonation is lively. Finishes short and dry. Overall: Not bad for a lager type beer.

Single bottle from my brother on 09/09/2012. Colour: A light brown with strong orange hues and minimal head. Nose: Strong grain aroma with a lacing of vanilla. Small fruit punch hint comes out after much swirling. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium sour. A touch cherry sweetness give a nice backdrop to some thick grain. There seems to be a late tangy sour kick that could be hop induced. Drinkable.

Bottle from CostCo: Poured a golden honey liquid topped with a soapy layer of head on top. Aroma is mostly malts with a slight hint of grain, hay, and honey. The drink is subtle yet does have a notable taste of malts that make this come across tasting like a marzen style. Probably the most stable beer out of the 4 that came in the variety pack.
