An authentic German style lager brewed with pilsner, dark-roasted Munich, and dark caramel malts. The result is a deep, golden-colored beer with smooth body. The best ingredients create the best beer. We use a bottom-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan yeast bank from Freising, Germany, and aroma hops from the renowned Hallertau region in Southern Germany. ABV 5.5% Bitterness 22 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

[Bottle] Pours a dark shade of gold with a slight haze to it. Includes a medium sized cap of white head. Grainy aroma of cereal and grassy hops. The taste is of muddled toasted malts and skunky hops. Highly carbonated, with an average mouthfeel. Smooth and easy to drink, but could have been better balanced.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color, small head. Aroma was grassy, hops, malts. Flavor was, uninspiring, but drinkable. Absolutely nothing wrong with this beer.

Left at my apartment by someone from school. I drank it, and its surprisingly good, better than the scores here would indicate. A clean, drinkable amber lager. Noticeable bitterness, decent hop flavors. Crisp and easy to drink. Definitely a worthy beer for the ridiculously low price its available at.

Pours a deep gold w/ foamy white head. Clean malt aroma. Difficult to rate as I have a bit of a cold now, but Ive had before and have enjoyed. From what I can detect, it has a yeasty caramel malt character and a prominent hop bite at the end. Need to rate this again in the future.

Bottle. Pours clear dark gold with a one finger white head. The nose is malt and light lager yeast. The taste is malt, honey, yeast and citrus zest. Medium mouthfeel. Not a bad beer really.

Decent drinking lager. Flavors are somewhat mainstreamed, but its well made, and it actually has some flavor to it. Bready and balanced. Fairly easy to drink and refreshing, just not overly exciting.

12 oz bottle. Pours a golden amber color with a small white head. It has a fresh malty aroma. It has a nice caramel and toast taste to it with light hop bitterness. This is a refreshing and easy to drink beer.

nothing too out of the ordinary here. while its nothing special there is a slight amount of German style malts and hefe flavor. a little too over hoppy for a true Vienna style., drinkable though.

Pours a rather typical clear golden amber with a white head. Aroma is malty with a good hint of fruit and even a touch of hops. Flavor is typically malty but has some fruity and malty touches, drawing it above average. Texture is fairly smooth and fizzy, making a nice tingle. Costcos offerings are definitely worth of at least a try!
