2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium off-white head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma is metalic, pine and a bit of citrus. Flavor much the same, a bit of malt give light sweetness and medium metallic bitterness in the finish. Kind of meh...

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Best by 1-13-2013. Pours a translucent copper color with a small white head that soon recedes to a film. The aroma is sweet caramel malts. The flavor is bitter hops forward with stale spicy-earthy hops and then the barley malt base takes over with semi-sweet breads and some biscuit. The palate is full and smooth and the carbonation is lively. Finishes short and sweet with lingering caramel. Overall: Freshness is definitely an issue here and the fact that the best-by date is over a year away and this is an IPA is just wrong.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from CostCo: Aroma was fragrant with some oily hops and semi syrupy malts but overall fell short of what an IPA should smell like. Appearance was almost identical to Kirklandís pale ale except that it had a darker tint on the liquid and had a soapier layer of foam. Flavor is bland with minimal amounts of real true hops but then again this could come across as an English IPA or bitter.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Should have known better buying off-brand beer. Iíll drink most anything but this stuff is truly awful. Made me sick the next day - the rest of the Kirkland beers not much better, I would recommend avoiding.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle pours clear copper with thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma has resiny sort of lime peel and grapefruit pith notes mixing with some roasted malts and biscuit like malts. It seems these malts and hops donít go too well together. The taste is sadly similar as I get some resiny bitter vaguely citrus hops blending bluntly into combative malt notes that are somewhat roasty. This does not come together very well but it does deliver a decent level of bitterness if thatís all youíre after.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle. Orange-brown with a foamy off-white head. Piny orange resinous aroma...a touch rancid. Factory IPA, soapy caramel. Not really that enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle- At the parentsí house. Beer pours a brown with yellow tinge. Smells a little like hops, but does not have much head. Taste has little going for it. Somewhat watery with an odd chemical aftertaste. Just what youíd expect if Costco wanted you to purchase THEIR micro-brew....

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
My house on July 13, 2012. Bottle into pint glass. Two fingers of head. Dark copper amber color. Thick, pillowy, white lacing on the sides. Good retention with pillowy, sporadic, white foam. A bit surprised how red it was.
Smelled a sharp whiff of citrus hops with lime leading the way. Also some noticeable pine notes. Slight sweet floral notes as well. All pretty sharp smells, while not too long lasting.
Tasted fairly close to the nose. Reminded me right away of a stronger version of a Kirkland Pale Ale/Amber hybrid. Fairly smooth in the beginning with some lime and pine citrus hops, before giving way to a sharp bitter alcohol bite.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt long finish.
A decent end to the night of trying four Kirklandís. Iíd rate it Amber Ale, Belgian White, IPA and Pale Ale. Beer Advocateís got it Amber, IPA, Pale Ale and Belgian White. Weíll agree to disagree.
