COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classic handcrafted ale, brewed with generous amounts of American hops, including Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo has a complex character and is very hoppy in both flavor and aroma. By using barley malt, Munich malt and crystal malt, this IPA is a delicious medium bodied beer bursting with flavor. A true India Pale Ale. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

Kirkland makes a decent beer. Actually they bottle and sell a decent beer. For the price and quantity well worth it ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty abrasive IPA with high acidic taste. Malt doesnt do enough to balance it.

Pours a rustic gold with a 1 finger. Aroma is of citrus and mostly sweetness. Taste is sour right off the bat. Kinda weird. There is a bit citrus and a but sweetness. Not very balanced, just kinda bla. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Kyoto Costco. Nice citrus hop aroma, with underlying caramel. Grassy, lemon. Deep copper color with a low, fine head. Nicely hopped, grass, citrus, quite bitter actually. Light caramel malt, with a long, bitter finish. A good old-school IPA, refreshing, clean, tasty and straightforward. By far the best of the mixed cas beers. † † † †

Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of roasted and caramel, light to moderate pine and a hint of grapefruit peel, faint dough for the yeast, with a note of paper in the background. Head is small, frothy, light tan with some spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is slightly hazy orange/red. Flavor starts lightly acidic and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Passes as an IPA, but not something Iíd go searching out.

This beer pours a dark amber color with a medium thick and fluffy off-white head that evaporates slowly. Small sticky patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of piney hops, citrus and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter hops with a short and fruity aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

Bottle. Got this in a white elephant gift set so figured I would give it a go. Pours a dark, slightly hazy copper orange color with a light thin tan head. Some lacing. The aroma is pretty mild but is a more sweet citrus orange and caramel than anything. Light/medium mouthfeel. Sweet upfront with a building bitterness level. Bitterness lingers on for a while, maybe a little too long. Itís a little rough around the edges. The lingering bittereness kills it for me. Itís not horrible, but itís not anything special either. Needs better head retention.

A - Pours a clear copper-orange with a finger of frothy tan-white head. The head fades at a fairly normal pace leaving behind some good lace. S - Sweet caramel and bready malts fill the nose. Bit of toasted aroma and some yeast. Light citrus hop in the background. T - Starts off with some lightly toasted sweet caramel malt. Just a touch of citrus hop in the background. Though the middle, the hops get just a touch stronger and the breadyness of the malt comes through. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts and just the lightest hop bitterness. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth but fairly thin and watery lacking any kick. D - Very drinkable, but not much there to be interesting. There is very little hop flavor or aroma in here. The malts also completely dominate the beer, and even they are not that strong.

Bottle:   Copper hued amber, clear, moderate to large head, frothy and off-white, with decent lacing.   Somewhat of a wet cardboard, basement funk, and honey nut Cheerio aroma.   Oh yeah, also that honeycomb cereal too.   Lots more of that on the tongue, with a slight metallic twinge.   Not very hoppy at all, barely a Pale Ale in my book.   I dont think I need to say much more about this one...

12 oz from 24 mixed pack from costco. Smells caramely and red. Looks clear amber with off white head. Tastes of some iffy amber malts and ok hop balance. Overall 4.5 of 10.
