COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This classic handcrafted ale, brewed with generous amounts of American hops, including Cascade, Centennial and Amarillo has a complex character and is very hoppy in both flavor and aroma. By using barley malt, Munich malt and crystal malt, this IPA is a delicious medium bodied beer bursting with flavor. A true India Pale Ale. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

Poured a clear amber/copper with a fairly big head. Nice hoppiness and citris aromas. A decent IPA, but a decent brew at a great price.

West coast version. 6.9% abv. Bottle. Pine and citrus aromas with a sour malty smell as well. Flavor is sticky pine, citrus, and molasses. Average thickness. Not great but not bad.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark golden with a thin white head and minimal lacing. Smells malty, some molasses, light floral. Tastes a bit off, somewhat fruity, a touch of grapefruit, approaching average. Light bitterness. Mediocre aftertaste that lingers.

Bottle in San Diego. Legit IPA, strong grassy hop aroma, moderate bitterness. I was quite impressed, actually.

12FL OZ ($ ???) what the hell is this... do you folks at kirkland even know what an IPA is supposed to taste like. this is utter and total BOOSH.

341 bottle poured at home. Pours a copper color with a thin head that died quickly. Smells like hops, but not like other IPA’s...quite weak. A bit of carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Not great for an IPA but drinkable.

beerbaaron (1934) - Arizona, USA - MAY 22, 2015
Clear light orange with a thin soapy white head. Aroma and flavor has off notes (like all the Kirkland beers I’ve tried so far) Mainly a fruity, unfinished, green beer note. Biscuit and caramel predominate over weak hops. Mild bitterness. Hops are grapefruit, earth, and floral. Semi dry and soapy. Too sweet. Just not very good.

again, a little too malty and generic. about on par with the pale, perhaps a touch better. good price, not good value.

Middle of the road IPA. About the best you’ll get from a Costco product. Whatever.

Bottle. WheeA: Amber color with creme colored head. No lacing.N: Nutty, toffee, biscuit, honey, earth, peppercorn. T: Dryly bitter. Light sweetness.M: Medium body with a light carbonation. O: Not awful. Clean - maybe closer to an amber ale, but not something I would be ashamed to serve at a party.
