This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

bottle-pours lite copper with a fizzy white head. carmel malt dominates the nose with touches of leafy hops. a bit of oxidization as well. earthy and leafy hop flavors with some carmel malts-pretty boring and not good. i didnt realize this was made by gordon biersch-the label said some company in new york. i dunno.. anyways, not very good!

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle brewed in Utica, N.Y. with an expiration date of Apr 04, 2010. The pour is golden yellow with a decent fizzy white head and pretty good lacing. Light but noticeable floral hops are the main aroma with a dash of malts. The taste is bitterly sharp with a hopped finish.

Sampled in a 12oz bottle from Costco in Mtn View. Overall a very weak brew. Flavor is not very smooth or well crafted. Pours with a white head and color is yellow and clear. Overall decent for the price but prefer the amber and german.

Pours pale golden with little head, aroma is spruce citrus and pretty good. The flavor is a decent Pale ale, some malt but the hops also come through.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2010 12 oz bottle into Grolsch lager glass. Smells like Sugar, cheap grain. Pours deep golden with a medium head and excellent lacing. Taste is just slightly piney; starts sour, ends bitter. Itís more grainy. Medium carbonation. Overall, a very grainy pale ale. Iíve had worse, but Iíve had better.

This is by far the best beer in the case. Orange-yellow color with a white head on it. Smell shows some signs of hops, a little yeast, some malts. Taste is smooth, sort of bitter, little bit of grass and straw. Not a bad beer, this is something I could drink whenever. If they sold this by the case I would buy it.

Thanks to John for the bottle. Poured clear lighter orange with a short, well-retained off-white head. The aroma picked up sweet caramel and lesser bready notes with fresh floral backing.. simple and well-balanced. The flavor found sweet pale malts and a touch of honey at the core.. moderate floral and peppery bitterness around.. spicy and refreshing on the finish. Lighter-bodied and crisp on the palate.. very easy-drinkiní with no complaints from me.

12oz bottle thanks to my roommate. When Costco stamps their brand on a beer, you know itís got to be a quality product. To be honest, this really isnít an awful beer. Pours clear golden with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is grainy and malty with some slight floral and herbal hop notes. Flavor is pale and caramel malt, grains, and just a bit of hop bitterness, mostly herbal. Medium-light body with average carbonation and nothing particularly exciting on the mouthfeel. Meh, but hey, at least this beer is cheap and better than BMC.

12oz bottle (Costco sample pack). Pours to a golden bronze with off white head. Smell is light in caramel, grainy malt and mild hops. The hop taste is there at first but is quickly shot down by malt which dominates this beer. Finish is slightly bitter hops.
