This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

12 oz bottle. Pours a medium gold with a large white head. It has a fresh aroma with some citrus. It has a nice citrus taste to it, a little pine, some hop bitterness and a grapefruit aftertaste. This is not a great beer but it’s not bad either.

Pours clear medium gold with a half finger white head. The nose is malt and light citrus hops. The taste is pretty much the same with a touch of bitter grapefruit in the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Another serviceable brew, not earth shattering, but better than I thought it would be.

12 oz. bottle. Copper color with medium head. Aroma- A little citrusy/grassy hops. Taste- Mostly dry almost chalky with some bready malt notes. Palate-Average carbonation with dry almost chalky and medium bitter finish. Not a bad beer for the price. Nothing spectacular.

Color is a fairly typical clear straw yellow, not inspiring but not off-putting either. Aroma is surprisingly strong, fairly fruity and just a bit sweet. Flavor is nice and malty with a pleasant sweet fruity undertone. Texture is a bit above average, fairly smooth and nicely tingly. Not great, but just fine for parties. Look for it.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2010 The aroma is malty and hoppy with grass and citrus hops. The appearance is pale gold with a large foamy head. The taste is like the aroma with a lightly bitter finish. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s a good beer just blah.

Wimpy weak flavor. Almost as lightly flavored as a lager. Minimal bitterness. Uninteresting.

Unlike the German Style Lager and Amber, this one doesn’t have anything offensive. There’s a decent maltiness to the beer but the hops come across more like tea leaves than anything else.

12 oz bottle from Costco Bakersfield. Nose of light floral hops and malty caramel with a slight woody note. Clear orange with a small off white head. Flavor is slightly bitter with a malty backbone. Finish lightly bitter. Drinkable but nowhere near a great Pale Ale!
