Cask @ CPK. The pour’s deep tawny red with a small, tight off-white head. Attractive beer. The nose is fresh raisin bread, cherry and strawberry fruit syrup, some robust caramel. Mild Christmas spices. The taste is sweet raisin bran cereal, peach fruit leather. Some bruised plum and red berries. Earthy woodiness, some bitter tobacco leaf. Chewy malt profile, caramel. Slightly hot finish. The beer’s a bit thin on the palate, this doesn’t feel all that lively. Overall, decent. The nose and appearance are pretty great. The taste doesn’t quite keep up.
