COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A refreshing American lager, Sugar Creek is bright, clear, golden yellow in color and contains a slightly sweet malty character with a pleasant clean finish. Light body with thirst quenching carbonation level, Sugar Creek is brewed with rice and is the lightest of our beers.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2014 Draft... RBSG 2014... Clear yellow pour with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The restrained nose is a weak blend of cereal grains and white pepper. Light-bodied and watery with zippy carbonation. Trends bitter, but only by a smidge, and is well-balanced overall. Crisp, snappy finish with a light buttery note. Probably some diacetyl here.

Draft at source. Pours clear yellow with white head. Nose/taste of lemon and pine. Soft carbonation. Simple. Lighter medium body.

Flight pour on tap at the brewery (Kirkwood, MO). Pours a gently hazed straw hue, mellow yellow glow with bright white head atop. Nice frothy layer has decent stick around. Aromas are gentle grainy malts, a bit of straw and touches of gentle fruit. Clean, a bit fruity with subtle earthy jabs. Initial is lighter end of the fold with a bit of creaminess, gentle bread dough, light apple. Middle is a touch sweet with mellow flaked wheat and straw, more bread dough. Backend and finish is clean, just a touch of yeasty spice, subtle earthiness. Solid, clean, a touch sweeter. Lighter bodied with a touch of dryness as we finish.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains, a touch of corn and underlying straw. Flavor has lots of straw and grain with some sweetness in the finish.

Had this at their tap room Fall 2012. Not really impressed with any of their beers. This one was so so.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Poured a straw yellow color with white head, lasting with a lot of lace. Mostly neutral aroma, but some faint mild malt, pils-ish and distant noble hops. Barely any flavor, either, but true-to-style mellow marshmallowy malt sweetness and very low hops bitterness. Moderate carbonation, crisp and refreshing lager. Fine, typical, more like a Corona or Red Stripe than Bud/Miller/Coors. These are hard to get right, and I’m sure there are plenty of newbies that demand this kind of beer at their restaurant, but I’d love to see them amp it up with some unique twist.

Tap. Poured a clear yellow color with a tiny white head. Aroma was corn and malts. Flavor was corn, malts and grass. Thin and watery. Not a whole lot to this beer, Still better than a Bud. Wouldn’t drink again though.

Sampler at the brewpub. It pours a clear gold with very little head. The aroma is sweet and light, nothing fancy. The flavor is clean and refreshing with a good balance. A decent brew.

phaleslu (6397) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 18, 2011
Draft sampler at the brewpub. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Aroma of pale malts, cereal grains, and a hint of sugar. Flavor of dry pale malts, cereal grains, and faint fruity sweetness. Light-bodied, with high carbonation and a crisp, dry mouthfeel. Didn’t get any hop character here. It was fine, but nothing too exciting.
