Aroma: dark cherries indeed, heavy malts. Appearance: dark brown, frothy small head. Taste: medium sweet and some bitters. Palate: some roasted flavours appear, quite bitter towards the end. Overall: this is not at all to my taste. Pint at the GBBF13, London.

GBBF Day 1. Almost opaque dark brown beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and smooth and semi dry. Slightly chemical tasting cherry, not sweet. A little coconut and a whisper of roasted hazlenuts. Creamy malt underneath. Finishes smooth. Something went askew with the cherry here.

Cask @ gbbf, small sample. Clear copper color, short head. Aroma of cherries, cherry pits, dark fruit, hint of spice, caramel. Bit sweet, bit bitter. Not bad actually.

From cask at GBBF. Opaque black, big foamy head. Smells impressively of cherry and black forest gateau. The smell is really, really appetising actually. Good stuff. ……. Oh well, the taste doesn’t live up to the smell. Muted cherry, water. Body is very thin. So much promise, but a little disappointing in the end. This beer is scoring above average purely based on the smell.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Very dark mahogony brown vergeing on black with a very thin tan head. Nose is black forest gateux, light chocolate, cherry. Tastes as nose, slightly tarte and sour tones of cherry. Medium bodied with a slightly astringent finish,

Cask-conditioned at the Minehead Beer Festival, 8/09/2012. Dark brown with a decent, off-whit head. Aroma of dark fruits, with a hint of coffee and demerara sugar. Flavour had more fruit, with some roastiness and gently bitter finish. Good.
