3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rune (5039) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 4, 2012
500ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. Huge and thick off-white head, leaving frothing rings of lace on the glassware. Next to clear copper brown-tinged body. Smell of beady malts entwined with dried fruits. Fine blended taste of earthy malts, sweet berries, almond and ripe fruits, as well as a touch of pepper on the swallow. Not overly bitter finish. A good malt dominated pale ale (Saturday eve at home in Tromsø, 02.06.2012).
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 berlinoise2go (383) - NORWAY - JUN 3, 2012
Bottle (50cl) from Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Finger-thick offwhite head that leaves some lacing. Copper/amber colour, slightly hazy. Aroma of malt, cookies, citrus, banana, ripe pear. Medium body, soft carbonation. Nicely balanced, semi-dry malty taste with a modest hop bitterness. Finish is more bitter and slightly acidic.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClubGonzo (1989) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 2, 2012
Bottle. My first Kissmeyer Beer, so expectations are pretty high! :-) Pours a deep bronze body with a coppery hue, crowned by a big bubbly white head. Aroma is fresh strawberries, overripe melon and hints of peaches, syrup and nuts. Very original and nice; like a combination of a brown and pale ale. Taste is earthy nougat-like tones, red berries and wet leaves. Hints of sweet biscuits. Hard to discern and rate really, as the flavors are blended very well. Smooth in mouthfeel, but somehow not very refreshing. This doesn’t strike me at all as an archetypical west coast APA. All in all a nice beer, but it lacks the winning edge and vanishes a bit in its own subtility. Still solid craftsmanship on display here.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 larsga (4684) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 31, 2012
Medium beige head. Slightly hazy amber body. Roasty malty aroma
with caramelly notes. Dry-sweet caramelly dusty taste with
roasty grainy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish
caramelly chocolatey aftertaste with grainy dusty earthy notes.
Nice, drinkable, and understated. More of a brown ale than a pale
ale, if you ask me. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)

Bottled. Pours a deep amber with a medium sized off-white head leaving a fair lace. Nose of floral hops, citrus fruits, peacy notes and caramel. Sweet flavor with grapefruit, peach and caramel. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and soft carbonation. Ends up more dry and nice bitter. An OK APA maybe a little weak on the palate.
