Draft at beer temple. Dark brown with white head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malt, coffee. Same in flavor with dark fruit and raisins. Good beer although I’m not normally into smoked beer

Medium beige head. Deep dark hazy red body is just barely translucent. Wood smoke and toffee aroma, very clean and vivid. Dry-sweet roasty smoky chocolate taste with mealy licorice notes. Mid-to-full body. Clean, fresh palate. Dryish chocolatey licorice and nutty wood smoke aftertaste. Delicate and drinkable. Long earthy finish. (0.4l draft at Schouskjelleren.)

On tap at Schouskjelleren. Campfire aroma, pitch dark, beige head. Smooth beer with a pronounced smoky flavour - bacon. Easy dinking, deceivingly smooth.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black opaque with a nice looking, rather small off-white creamy head.Roasted malt aroma, light smoked bacon and tar. Taste is moderate sweet dark caramel and chocolate with a nice smoked meat addition, not overwhelming, but rather pleasant balanced against the dark sweet malts. Creamy mouthfeel. Good beer.

ekstedt (5906) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2011
Draught at the Danish Beer Festival 2011. Roasted aroma with clear smoked notes. Medium bodied and smooth. Semi dry with medium bitterness. I could really have liked this without the smokiness.

On tap, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, big beige head. Strong aroma of smoked meat / bacon, also roasty notes. The flavour has also strong smokey notes, and moderate roasty notes. A bit too much "smoked meat" for my taste. Not very sweet. A "German Rauchbier meets Baltic Porter"-experience.

On tap at Beer Temple. Almost black colour, light beige head. Aroma of bacon and butter, smoke, sweet malts, rye, some chocolate. Flavour is sweet, rye, smoke, light buttery (like popcorn), light salty meat, sweetish finish. Light to medium bodied. OK.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, 20110820) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had roasted malts, chocolate and mildly smoke. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were rosted malts, smoke, hops, coffee, mild sourness and medium bitterness. Aftertaste had smoke, liquorice and bitterness. Nice porter but I would have liked heavier smoke aroma.

On tap at Ølbaren. Very dark brown with a creamy head. Sweet and smoked aromas and flavours, but nothing extreme. Well-made and highly drinkable without raising any eyebrows.
