2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Deep amber with thick, steady ( approaching meringue), creamy head with some sticky white webby lace. Very difficult to pinpoint anything from the nose and I have let this beer sit on my coffee table for 15-20 mins before taking a sniff. Really just smells like nothing mixed with some faded hops, and a little mixed paper thrown in. Flavor is a mixed bag of sharp hoppy bitterness and a sweeter caramel, but mainly bitter, approaching ashy. Astringent lingering bitter finish that shows the heat a bit.

On tap at Amundsen. Deep golden with an off-white head. Malty aroma with hops, alcohol, citrus. Sweet and almost liqueur like with quite low carbonation. Solid bitterness balances the sweetness to a certain degree. Spicy and bitter aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell (Dec ’11), served in a half pint ’tulip’ style glass.
Light orange to gold in colour, clear and with minimal head and lacing.
Hoppy aroma and with emphasis on citrus notes, particularly grapefruit.
Not the strongest teasting of double IPA’s, and not overly bitter/high IBU, but distinct citrus tang, as with the smell, predominately grapefruit.
Mouthfeel - tart, refreshing, dry-ish aftertaste.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft from Whole Foods. Very good fruity, floral aroma - sweet with a little fresh bread, caramel, and whiskey. Clear, shiny amber pour with a good amount of froth. Rich and hoppy, but not harsh. It seemed like there were some English and/or German hops in here, but the description says the hops were from America and New Zealand. There is a pleasant, lingering pith/rye bitterness on the palate. It doesn’t really go down like an imperial. A good brew, but not worth the $20 per liter it was selling for.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at CBC, London. Pours a lightly hazy, amber-brown with a foamy head. Poopey fruit, berries in the aroma, some pine, caramel. Very sweet flavor, toasty malts, bread, toasty sugar, light pine and ripe citrus. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming and sticky finish, more caramel, mild pine, fruits. OK beer. A little odd but decent overall.
