Toasty and malty and somwhat sweet. Red and coppery. More like an english ale and than a pale ale. But anyway.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Produces up a deep, ruddy copper with little evident carbonation. Head is lax; a mere island of beige and a little reminder inits lace. Heavily malty, like Horlicks™, comes across prominently on the nose with underlying notes of caramelised rhubarb, manky raspberry conserve, marmalade and grapefruit, and pale nuts. Nutty, buttery and doughy on the palate and in fact this dominates making it heavy in the stomach. Rose water and oddly fusels show giving it a chemical taint. Mild bitterness starts mid-palate and lasts but the hops are ill defined; more earthy, floral and spiced. My guess would be Goldings or a clone there-of but I reckon I am wrong, and whatever else is going on falls short. Earthy, floral finish. Lasting burnt fruit note. Body is light to medium-light with moderate carbonation.and a dry, herbal and burnt fruit finish. Pretty average stuff. (50cL, no date stamp, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Mixed bag here. I’ve had two bottles at Lincoln Wine Bar. The first seemed pretty nice, a light, citrusy pale ale. The second however was either off or it didn’t strike me as well. Barely finished the 2nd one, so an average rating between the two.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Nettbutikken in May/June 2012 Beautiful dark amber to brown colour, large and creamy off-white head Nice aroma of caramel, bakery and dark fruits. The flavour has first a nice fruity acidity, followed by notes of caramel, nuts and brown bread. Not too sweet. The hops are too moderate for something waving the "West Coast" flag, but this is still a pleasant and drinkable beer.

Keg @ The Euston Tap. Medium amber color with a small white head. The nose is some orange peel, light grass, some confier, light toffee. The taste is pale malts, light orange and citrus fruit salad. Notes of caramel. Mild bitterness on the long finish. Smooth, easy to drink. Overall, a solid effort. Just OK. Not really my idea of a ’west coast pale’.
