COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously called ’Kissmeyer West Coast Pale Ale’

English: Dry, crisp, medium malty body, medium smooth bitternes, big, fruity hop aroma and flavour. Think a bolder and more aromatic version of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

(13.3 % P, 6.0 % ABV, 35 IBU, Colour 20 – 25 EBC).

Bottle. My first Kissmeyer Beer, so expectations are pretty high! :-) Pours a deep bronze body with a coppery hue, crowned by a big bubbly white head. Aroma is fresh strawberries, overripe melon and hints of peaches, syrup and nuts. Very original and nice; like a combination of a brown and pale ale. Taste is earthy nougat-like tones, red berries and wet leaves. Hints of sweet biscuits. Hard to discern and rate really, as the flavors are blended very well. Smooth in mouthfeel, but somehow not very refreshing. This doesn’t strike me at all as an archetypical west coast APA. All in all a nice beer, but it lacks the winning edge and vanishes a bit in its own subtility. Still solid craftsmanship on display here.

Keg @ The Euston Tap. Medium amber color with a small white head. The nose is some orange peel, light grass, some confier, light toffee. The taste is pale malts, light orange and citrus fruit salad. Notes of caramel. Mild bitterness on the long finish. Smooth, easy to drink. Overall, a solid effort. Just OK. Not really my idea of a ’west coast pale’.

0.5l bottle @ Patricks, Kristiansand. A blurry dark copper-ish beer with a big and lasting off-white head. Nice lacing on this. On the aroma this one has candy tones, fruity hops, caramel and it’s quite fresh and almost zesty as well. A bit thin - almost watery texture and the carbonation level is comfortably average to soft. Nice flavors, perhaps a tad sweet and it’s really fruity! Hints of fruity citrus plants all the way. I would describe it as very easy to drink little of, but not great to drink a whole lot of. Really low bitterness all the way, and perhaps not utterly exciting, but I found it quite tasty. Just what I needed now. 30.03.2012

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2012 Orange golden. Hoppy aroma with distinct grassy notes. Green flavor, malty backbone, very well balanced: Not sweet. Dry, flowery aftertaste.

500 ml bottle. Light brown and clear. Medium-sized off-white head that clings to the glass. Nutty spicy aromas. Reminds me more of a brown ale than a pale ale. Rounded nutty sweet malty flavours. Quite rich. Malt driven instead of by hops. Some bitterness but it’s all well hidden. Biscuits and fresh bread. Well balanced and nicely drinkable.

On tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear amber with a decent white frothy head. Nose and flavor both hold solid spicy and herbal hops, some grass, and a touch of tangerine citrus qualities. Palate has light to medium body and decent hop bitterness. Good, but not great.

500ml bottle. Cloudy dark golden to amber colour with medium frothy lacing white head. Distinct but moderate hop aroma. Taste is more "powerful", dry and bitter hop, herbal, metallic. Definitely not easy to drink. The hop notes are not on the flattering range of the tongue’s spectrum, but rather strenuous. Nevertheless worth the fray.
