COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously called ’Kissmeyer West Coast Pale Ale’

English: Dry, crisp, medium malty body, medium smooth bitternes, big, fruity hop aroma and flavour. Think a bolder and more aromatic version of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

(13.3 % P, 6.0 % ABV, 35 IBU, Colour 20 – 25 EBC).

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2011 On tap. Cloudy and opaque orangey golden with an off-white head leaving some lacework. Discreet aroma, a little fruit and malt sweetness. Medium body, again some malt sweetness and a dry but not overly aromatic hop finish. 080111

On tap at Churchkey. Pours a clear amber with a decent white frothy head. Nose and flavor both hold solid spicy and herbal hops, some grass, and a touch of tangerine citrus qualities. Palate has light to medium body and decent hop bitterness. Good, but not great.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Solo hungover tasting in my hotel room! Hazy amber beer, little white head. Light fluffy dry palate. Quite a lot of pale malt and not too much hop. What hop there is a pleasantly fresh orange. Not bad but somewhat out of kilter.

On tap at Ølfestival 2011. A slightly unclear beer, amber in color and with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Sweetish maltyness, pale malts, and some resins on the nose. The flavor is fruity and piney with pale malts in the back. Some bitterness shows up towards the end, but not enough I think. Medium body. Overall, a decent, drinkable beer, smooth on the palate, but not superb in any way. 110527

(50 cl bottle from Bunker Beer; BBD: 050113) Pours a clear, dark amber with medium, white head. Good lace and retention. Aroma is mostly malty with hints of dust and grain. Not much detectable hop aroma. Oily texture, medium carbonation, medium body with a slightly sweet finish. Taste is more sweet than bitter and definitely not dry. Easily drinkable, not very demanding, pleasant but perhaps not that terribly interesting.

500 ml bottle @ Patricks. Dark golden body with an off-white head. Quite weak malty aroma with just a hint of citric fruit. Flavor is malt with notes of citric fruit and moderate bitterness. Medium body. A good looking OK beer, but pretty straight forward with nothing extra at all.

50cl bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Fruity and malty aroma with caramel and hops. Sweet and malty with some bitterness. Medium body. Pleasant beer, but the name gave me higher expectations... Slightly citric and dry finish.

Bottle from Vika enjoyed at home
Deep amber, super big tanned head. Smells of malts, some hops. Where is the big fruity aroma promised on the label? Some dark overripe fruits appear though. Medium malty, medium sweet, some dry dark fruits and caramel. Nice medium bitter finish, some resins and zest in there. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light oily feel. Totally i don’t feel that this beer deliver what it promise on the label. Even not sure if this really is an APA. Seems like people before me have questioned the same issues

500 ml bottle. Light brown and clear. Medium-sized off-white head that clings to the glass. Nutty spicy aromas. Reminds me more of a brown ale than a pale ale. Rounded nutty sweet malty flavours. Quite rich. Malt driven instead of by hops. Some bitterness but it’s all well hidden. Biscuits and fresh bread. Well balanced and nicely drinkable.
