3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Thanks Diana for sending.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a pure dark brown color with a slim film of an off-white to white head with some bubbles here and there as what is of there just glimmers and settles.
The smell started off with a light roast leading to a semi - sweet /smooth chocolate. Vanilla seems to balance.
The taste was slightly roasty and semi - sweet letting the vanilla enter in nicely. Slight roasted coffee and vanilla - esque quality is in the aftertaste. The finish is slightly dry.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Low carbonation leads to a decent smoothness rolling over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a decent porter. Everything’s balanced. I’d probably have it again.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a smallish tan head on there. Nose is pretty heavy with the vanilla, and moderate amounts of roasting complementing the vanilla. Taste is a bit sweet and skewed too heavily towards the vanilla for my tastes.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
would likely be small in body without the vanilla, but as is it smooths things out quite nicely and leaves this a lightly roasted vanilla cream ale that went down easy. likely their best.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz. Apparently is now named the ’Backroad Vanilla Porter’ with a much different looking label. I’ll change the name here in a second. As for the beer: big vanilla’d nose, hints of sweet roasty malts as well. Flavors are well blended notes of vanilla, and soft notes of coffee, roast, and bitter hops. Smooth, could be a bit louder.

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Vanilla is the overpowering taste. Not very balanced very lite roasted notes. Better vanilla porters out there.

HQT Night. Growler. Holy vanilla! Over kill. This beer had lots of potential, but just didn’t live up. I’ll try it again, as it was complex and had alot going. Just a bit thin and over hyped. Perhaps the next batch...
Still... if you like porter, with some sweet hints... go for it.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark brown pour with an off-white head. The aroma is full of roasted malt and chocolate. The vanilla comes through in the flavor and compliments the chocolate notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Serving: from bottle--purchased at Made in Oregon.
Aroma: light pumpernickel and vanilla aroma.
Appearance: average-sized, creamy, light-brown, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark reddish-brown body.
Taste: light acidic initial flavor and moderately sweet toasted bread and vanilla finish with long duration.
Palate: medium-to heavy body with oily texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: this is an outstanding porter. Great aroma with a flavor to match. I’d like to try it from the tap.
