Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color with small head. Light vanilla aroma, cheap chocolate. The vanilla and the dark malts create a flavor that is a bit artificial, cheap chocolate.
Not a bad beer, but it just goes in one direction, so if you like that direction…

Bomber from Harry & David in Medford, OR. Pours dark brown with a foamy tan head. Aroma is vanilla and what seems to be smoke. Med body. Flavor is vanilla, coffee and a little smoke. Hint of chocolate. It’s very smooth. Almost creamy in texture. It approaches sweet, but it seems slightly on the bitter side. Clearly nothing objectionable here, and it’s something of a tasty treat.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out loads of vanilla upfront, followed by a touch of coffee. Flavour is along the same lines, with loads of vanilla upfront, with secondary notes of coffee and a touch of roast. Simple, but well-made for what it is. Solid stuff.

would likely be small in body without the vanilla, but as is it smooths things out quite nicely and leaves this a lightly roasted vanilla cream ale that went down easy. likely their best.

Bottle at Beermongers. Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. The aroma is sweet coffee and vanilla. The flavor is very nice; rich, oily, roast and coffee, lots of sweet vanilla. Tasty.

Bottle:   Deep brown, moderate foamy tannish head, fairly nice lacing.   Fake vanilla nose, major honeycomb cereal like aroma.   Soft roastiness.   Seems like a light porter, with this artificial vanilla like sweetness that is actually more like a kids cereal.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Honeycomb like vanilla flavors on the exit, little roastiness is available on the exit.   Not a big Porter, very light, with a fake vanilla like flavor.   Reminds me a bunch of the Coeur d’Alene Vanilla Porter, fake and not big enough.   Meh...

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Looks like a porter. A quirky aroma. Dark dry chocolate. The flavor is full of chocolate with lesser vanilla. Then I taste coffee and that is where the quirkiness comes in. The coffee just doesn’t rock the vanilla like chocolate does. Lots of earth here along with the bitter coffee and chocolate. I wouldn’t mind seeing more vanilla pop up. Later some citrus that featured oranges emerged. I love me some vanilla porter. However, I couldn’t get into this one. That coffee and bitterness just didn’t work.
