very light in color (similar to a bud). Taste is sickening sweet up front with a bitter, skunky finish. Alcohol is very present. This is just wrong.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Slick (1971) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2003
Dark amber color,Medium sized head that lasted for a short time. The aroma was malty and mildly hoppy with maybe a slight fruit content but it comes and goes. The taste was nothing special malty and hoppy with little else going on and a decent hop bitterness, the after taste was malt and hops. This is a brew that would be nice trying atleast once but having more then one is just a bit much.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Perkeo (321) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 29, 2003
More a vienna/marzen type than a dunkel IMO,it has a slightly red/amber hue, just a shade darker than the (slightly darker) czech style of pils, with a very rocky foam collar. fresh malt aromas, some cellar character, plus a touch of sulphur that follows through on the palate - nice noble bitterness, but a little too much of that czech diacetyl/sulphur falvor for my liking, plus a slightly medicine/quinine flavor. For all that it does have a pretty nice malt to bitterness ratio, but at $11 a six pack, it should maybe deliver a little more...
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Prostman (1077) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 29, 2003
This was very underpar for a dunkel. It poured much lighter in color and the taste was really rather bland.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 raymow (745) - Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2003
Looks smells and tastes like a typical European Lager beer. It does have a slightly different (wintery?) aspect to it though, that sets it a bit apart from the rest. It's just a touch darker/reddish in color and just a touch less skunky tasting (in a good way - if that makes any sense). Bottom line - it's not bad and I'd drink it again.
