(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 22 Feb 2013) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, dark bread and hints of oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark rye bread, chocolate and a touch of oak wood. More than full body, with balanced sweetness and a certain roasty bitterness. Slightly sharp carbonation. Nice one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MaartenRF10 (1175) - Wageningen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 12, 2013
Cloudy chestnut brown, light brown head. Slight gusher, making it impossible to poor in the glass in one attempt. In the second attempt flocks of yeast entered the glass. Not much aroma, distant barrels and malts. Taste is a lot more explicit with a lot of bourbon, vanilla, wood, whisky and domme alcohol. Body is ok, carbo a bit high.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Idiosynkrasie (1832) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 6, 2013
330ml bottle [slight gusher]. Slightly hazy reddish brown colour, some chunks floating around, with huge, frothy to foamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Bourbon aroma, vanilla, a herbal touch. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, dry herbal overtones, bourbon vanilla background; lively prickling carbonation.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 Benzai (4344) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JAN 5, 2013
33cl bottle shared with Joes @ Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. According to the label this is batch #2 bottle number 494 of 528. Very dark brown color, huge foamy soapy off-white head. Don’t get any aroma through this huge head. Taste malts, caramel, dark malts, only lightly roasty, some overripe fruits. Way way way too much carbonation, low thin body. Actually very disappointing compared to the original Poorter.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Vaiz (2681) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle at home. Pours a slight gusher, dark brown color with a huge foamy off-white head. Aroma is spicy, vanilla, some fruits, bourbon, slightly alcoholic and somewhat chemical, but also quite round and smooth. Flavor is sweetish malty, some vanilla, oak, bourbon, chocolate, roasted malts and spices. A bit thin and slightly out of balance, but well drinkable.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mutz (293) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 16, 2012
Uit de fles. Donkerrode kleur, weinig kraag. Ruikt naar whiskey en smaakt er ook lichtelijk naar. Verder niks, geen diepgang , vrij waterig. Interessant door de herkenbare whiskeygeur en smaak maar niet voor herhaling vatbaar.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 erickok (2282) - Tours, FRANCE - OCT 20, 2012
Glowing reddish brown body and light tan head. Concentrated, sticky fruit falvour, barley wine like, forest flavours, bark, brioche. Great stuff. Mild sweet, solid spicy gruit like bitterness and a clean wood taste. Very well developed. Flavourful but never alcoholic or harsh. Not a porter for me, but rather a gruit/kuyt beer that is well made. Interesting, classic and tantalizing. Nice.

Lots of foamy, soapy and alcoholic but with a peppermint and peaty finish. Bottle numbet 435 from De Bierkoning.
