Tap @ Vlaamsche Reus, Wageningen. Dark brown. Expected a darker beer. Fruity aroma with a lot of caramel. Very interesting beer. Tastes like combination between a Porter and an Abbey Double. Caramel, malts, some hops and coffee/chocolate in the taste. Nice.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark, almost black, small head. Starts strong-malty, some smokey hints, a bit earthy. Should be drier for a porter. Finish with some hoppy-dry notes, still a bit too mild. Okay.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Leighton (6982) - London, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2012
Bottle shared at Post-Borefts Basecamp Tasting, Utrecht. Pours cloudy amber with a tight, white cream head. yeasty, light toasted malt nose with some dark fruit notes. Medium sweet flavor with bready malts, mild toast, some berrie fruits, hints of roast. Medium bodied with average to high carbonation. Sweet finish with basic, toasted malts and light, leafy bitterness. It’s alright stuff.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jackl (2597) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2012
Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis. The pour’s deep red with a large white head. The nose is cardboard, oxidized aromas, some mandarin orange. Maybe some toffee if I’m being generous. The taste is lemon, orange, cardboard covered in caramel. Not particularly smooth, a chore to put down. Overall, a real weak effort. One of the worst porters I’ve ever had.

Bottled. Red amber (!) with a frothy stable head. Yeasty, fruity aroma, bubblegum, tutti frutti, no roast or dark malty notes resembling a porter. Very Belgian flavor of yeast, candied fruits, spices and sulphur Actually an OK Belgian-style ale, but a porter?
