Starting point for this beer was our historic Koyt beer with 45% malted oats. We made it a bit stronger, added a some pale ale malt, a Styrian Goldings whirlpool hop and had some oak chips in the aging process. This is our interpretation of old durable Dutch ships beer; the name means ’Sailors’ and was found in old references about beer.

Pale brown colour with thin lacy head. Aroma and flavour are both dominated by intense malts. Despite this there is a light woody dryness in the finish offering some balance.

Bottled (backlog, from Biernavigatie). Hazy goldeny orange colour with small fluffy head that leaves lace. Aroma is gluelike sweetness along with some fruits, yeast and mild herbal notes. Flavour has the same elements in a good balance, with a slight alcoholic sting to it as well.

33o ml bottle at home, into a tulip glass. ABV 6.2% Bright golden orange colour on the body, crystal clear, with a tall snow white head. Thick, with very good retention, leaving medium lacing as it goes down. Aroma is sweet and malty, with something that reminds me of honey, herbs, wood. Taste of malts, mildly sweet. Floral notes, hops, a touch of brett-like sourness on the finish. Medium thin body, average carbonation, dry palate. Overall an okay beer, but nothing very interesting.

Bottled 330ml, thanks Bierkoning
Slightly hazy golden-amber color, small white head, some lace. Fruity sweetish aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Fruity with some alcohol and light citrusy bitterness. Despite of traditional background and partly historic recipe, tastes very much like common Belgian blonde. Not too bad.

On tap at Arrndsnest. Pours a near clear amber orange with a frothy near white head that lasts and laces. Aroma has notes of straw with backing sweet bread and a bit of caramel. Flavor has a good amount of straw with a touch of caramel and sweet grains.
