sinkhole (121), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Apr 24, 2006 Nice raspberry aroma, reddish/brown in colour. Good raspberry flavour to start giving away to a slighty bitter hop finish.
KyotoLefty (196), Kyoto, Japan Sep 1, 2008 Medium to dark amber, with a low off-white head. Relatively fragrant aroma of dark malts, wheat, raspberry and hops: neither the wheat nor the fruit is in control here--good balance, sour and sweet. Taste is berry, with sweet and sour, dark malts, caramel, wheat and a touch of hops. Interesting combination, not strong on the wheat. The raspberry is a little fake tasting, but otherwise pretty decent. Finish of malt and sour fruits, with a touch of hops only. An interesting fruit beer with a lot going on. Not perfect or even outstanding, but enjoyable enough. ILduce (98), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2008 500ml bottle: Orange. Heavy raspberry nose with some wheat. Taste reminiscent of nail-polish remover. Some hoppy notes but otherwise bland and contrived. Thin. Unpleasant from beginning to end. Tessic (383), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Aug 28, 2008 This Wheat beer poured a cloudy light orange colour with a rocky bright white head. To the nose there are scents of raspberry jam, yeast and sweet malt. First taste had a very strong purfume taste that didn’t really go away. Very thin as far as the mouthfeel went. This beer is lacking something. Watery finish with nothing but cheap purfume lingering. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 2, 2008 The colour is a misty reddish gold and the carb is livly .Decent mix of raspberry and wheat beer flavor,. But, there is a slight metalic after taste to the thing that bothers me a little and keeps me from giving it a better rating. JesseM (406), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Jul 15, 2008 500mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours an orangish-brown with a tiny white head. Aroma is interesting, wheat malts and yeast with some rasberry tartness on top. Pretty sharp smelling actually, implying decent hops in this one. Flavour is OKAY at best, not really wheat beerish, but with that dull and unpleasant dryness I get sometimes from flavoured wheats. Decent rasberry flavour in the finish, a touch tart, but the flat sort of dull dryness really bugs me. Over-carbonated as well, another thing that tends to be a turn-off for me. It gets a bit better as it warms though, and I’m actually able to drink it all, unlike the pomegranate wheat from this same brewer. The berry tartness and hop sharpness are the aspects that keep me drinking it. I just have to swirl the glass a lot to kill some of the excessive effervesence.
