Bottle. Aroma of dried fruits and some caramel. Orange body with dirty white head. Body texture was thin with some grain, wheat and a fruity sour bitter. Had that dry champane aftertaste on palate.

In short: A rather bland but quite drinkable fruity caramelized Ale
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed soon after purchase
The look: Partly cloudy golden-copper body topped by a very small white head
In long: Light fruity caramel with some toffee notes. Overall ripe fruits sensation, apples unexpectedly show up as the dominant fruits flavour. For the style the body a bit softer and thinner than average. Minimal hops presence, the beer is somewhat unbalanced. Not much complexity here, barely a barley-wine, however the beer is actually very drinkable and hides its 9.5% surprisingly well considering the somewhat thin body. Overall pretty bland. For a Barley Wine this one has about as much bite as your 92 year old granny without her dentures.

Dark golden beer with a lasting white head. Aroma has pineapple and other fruits and plenty alcohol. Sweet and fruity flavour with alcohol showing, including an alcohol hot finish.

Bottle. Thank you JensenTaster. Pours amber orange with a creamy slowly fading head. Aroma & taste is matured, old, vinous & fruity. Warmth from alcohol! Enjoyable!

(Bottle, BB Jun 08) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of fruit, sweat, mustiness, raisins, and Armor All® interior cleaning wipes. Flavor of raisins, apple, dried fruits, and sweet dough with a dry finish.

750 ml bottle. Pours clear amber with no head. Funky yeast aroma. Flavor is malty with subtle notes of dried fruit. Other than that, nothing complex about this one. Thin mouthfeel. Hardly a barley wine as the bottle states. One redeeming quality is I could not detect any alcohol presence.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a copper colour with a medium but fading white head and a sweet fruity smell. The flavour is ripe grapes, apples and citrus, some spices and a note of caramel. The finish is subtile bitter and some alcohol. Good but not that special

My 750ml bottle labelled this as being a "Dutch Barley-Wine Style Ale." Not sure why, except that importers must have their fun. It poured a clear amber/copper body with a thin layer of bubbley film instead of a head. The aroma had a lot of alcohol to it. Once passed that, you can pick up some sweet toffee, orchard fruit, dried flowers, and rock candy. Plenty of alcohol in the flavor, too, along with the other elements from the nose. A sturdy bitterness developed at the midpoint and lasted into the finish along with a warm alcohol burn. Interesting, but more of a generic BSA (as listed here) than a barley wine.
