jbrus (4095), Delft, Netherlands Oct 11, 2001 Sweet and fruity. MiP (4927), Flensburg, Germany Jul 15, 2007 Bottle, 9%. Sweet aroma, ripe fruit and flowers. Hazy dark copper colour. Big, stable, rocky head. The flavour is quite sweet with some caramel and lots of dried fruit, balanced quite well by alcohol. High carbonation, but not rough. Very good, strong and sweet like I like it. oh6gdx (5680), Vaasa, Finland May 11, 2007 Bottled. Pinkish orange colour, small beige head. Aroma is fruits, yeast and slight sweet notes of alcohol. Some spices also along with caramel. Flavour is caramel, toffee, yeast and nice sweeter malts. A very wellbalanced flavour, which hides the alcohol totally. GreatLibations (1252), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Mar 14, 2008 A cold pour produces a full, longlived froth and lasting lace w/ a slightly hazed amber color. Aromas of sweet Belgian style candy malt and banana bread. Full nectar w/ mellow residual effers producing an oily texture. A moderate malt body pushes ripe stonefruit, wild apple, and tropicals forward intertwined w/ a peachpit bittering component. This is more like a Belgian strong ale than anythingelse. It has a yeastiness and spicey rock candy character that provides a nice change of pace. I do detect some alcohol on the tongue but it’s not offensive. I’m really digg’n this brew. It’s very tripel in flavor. Low sweetness factor for a Barleywine. As it warms a bit of banana butter comes to the stage w/ hints of moscato melon. It’s very well balanced and the bittering unit really sticks with you on the finish. rauchbier (2870), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Nov 22, 2003 Bottle conditioned. Hazy amber orange, thin but persistant rocky white head and moderate condition. Good complex aromas of honey, malt, spices, orange, yeast and funky mushrooms. Fruity sweet and quite soft in the mouth with spicy yeast. Long finish that is quite dry and spicy with malt, yeast and coconut lingering.
