2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap @Brasserie 4:20 (Rome), vintage, Stout&Porter Festival. Coca cola color with a minimal head. Aroma is malty, caramel, light roasted notes... wtf? Flavour is sweet, caramel, bread... watery... light body, light carbonation... is this a joke?

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated on 9-29-2009-corked and caged bottle. When poured, this beer forms a small very fizzy tan head that quickly dissipated, mostly opaque brown body with a red tint, no lacing, and visible carbonation. The Aroma consists of semi-roasted malt, hops, dark fruits, and alcohol. The Taste is semi-roasted malt, dark fruits, and chocolate. This beer has a dry finish. The Palate is watery and thin. Overall, this beer is not a good representation of its style due to its watery, thin texture and therefore it lost some points. This is a beer that I do not recommend and therefore not a beer I am interested in drinking again.

2 year old bottle. Black with a white, thin, frothy, lasting lacy head. Smells of liquorish, sweet malt, soft roast, and soft coffee. Taste of sweet malt, coffee, with a roasted malt, and a bitter roasty finish. Decent stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a pretty decent imperial stout. A little too much licorice for my taste, but has the requisite darkness, heaviness, and chocolate to suit my preferences.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled, 330ml from The Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. Virtually black with tan head. It’s been mentioned before on here, but I had the same, expecting the intense chocolate malt roastiness, this proved to be a lighter, fruitier beer. There is a sweetish liqorice with a plummy flavour, thinner than would be ideal. Reasonable enough but not as advertised.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 29.04.2011
Aroma is somewhat sour with earthy notes, some roasted malt and licorice. Flavour is sourish and slightly acidic with soy sayce, somewhat salty licorice and coffee notes. Thin and sour, not very good for a Belgian IS.
