spkevin (56), Doetinchem, Netherlands Oct 27, 2009 Bottle from Berts Bierhuis. Pours a dark beer with a lasting brownish head. Very creamy head that lasts till the end. Aroma is sweet with hints of dark fruits and roasted malts. Very good bitter taste with again hints of roasted malts and some coffee. The aftertaste is sweet. Very good beer for a small brewery like Klein Duimpje. Will try some other beers of this brewery in the future! KnN (714), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Oct 15, 2009 Pretty laid back imperial. Poured a deep brown/black color with a loose off white head. Aroma was roast, coffee, dark chocolate. Mouthfeel was a little on the thin side. Nothing stellar, but not undrinkable. OleR (2008), Oslo, Norway Oct 6, 2009 0.33 L bottle from de Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Coarse-laced, lightly tanned head. Opaque, dark brown body. Sweet caramel upfront. Some roasted dark malts, marzipan, and alcohol-soaked dark fruits to follow. Gently sweet-flavored. Light peppery, light roasted dark malts. Coffee tones, dark fruits, and a moderate amount of spicy, bittering hops. Mid-bodied. A certain sharpness on the palate. Finishes on the drier side, roasted malty with coffee notes, and a lingering bitterness. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 4, 2009 Nice ,eazy Imperial. Roasty chocolate aromas. Dark fruit, creamy roast malts, bitter chocolate and coffee . A bit thin, but way eazy to sink considering the booze %. gunnar (487), Sandnes, Norway Sep 21, 2009 Bottle.Pours black as Coke, with a small brown head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste of rum plums, chocolate and some traces of burning alcohol. diabel (1366), Aarschot, Belgium Sep 7, 2009 Bottle at Arendsnest, Amsterdam Clear, mahoney body with a large rocky/creamy, brown head (like yoghurt/cream lying on top of the beer). Nice looks. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, bit smoked. Well balance aroma with and ok complexity. Quite soft, moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Intense malty flavour, but not dominated by it. Bit watery mouthfeel, but due to the intense mouthfeel, it is not really a bad thing. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Aug 31, 2009 Bottle.Black with a small head. Full body as you would expect from this style. Pleasant sweetness lingers and its is very easy to drink despite its strength.
Quite impressive. Not as good as some American examples of this style but fairly close. Dean (15), Netherlands Aug 20, 2009 A lovely beer. Unusual flavour. Chocolate smell. Bitter after-taste. Too fizzy. A bit sharp. Pretty much my favourite Klein Duimpje beer :-)
