CapFlu (3292), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 31, 2008 (750ml) Sampled at the Brasseurs du Temps pre-party on August 27, 2008. Pours a thin, dissipated white head with an opaque body. Nose of a weak barley wine. Very little going on. Mild date malt body with a very watery finish. No stout. No imperial. Pretty weak. 4/3/4/2/8 ogivlado (2313), Zagreb, Croatia Aug 30, 2008 Bottled(330ml). -Black coloured, medium sized brown head, sourish vinous nose. Quite smooth for 8.5%. Roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruits with notes of cocoa, caramel and almonds. Had better imperial stouts so far. hopdog (4564), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 26, 2008 750ml bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocolate, and some dark fruits. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, lighter roast, and dark fruits. On the sweeter side. Alcohol content well hidden. AmEricanbrew (924), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 23, 2008 Clear dark brown with a rocky tan head. Tough to smell any thing here, very mild roasted malts and cocoa. Smooth medium body. Sugary sweet flavors with some roasted malts and mild coffee. Lots of sweet flavor in this one, with not much else. DaSilky1 (1602), San Diego, California, USA Aug 22, 2008 Pours a dark reddish brown color though sits in the glass a few shades darker and topped with a pretty solid sheet of microscopic dark tan bubbles who like to paint lacing upon the glass. Cherry accented roasty notes in the nose with a touch of stale hops and a smidgen of mildewy books. A silky mouthfeel, the beer caresses the tongue with great precision as sensual waves of chocolate cherries pass. Concentration on fruits and chocolate and a little less attention to roasted malts..a likable change of pace. Slightly tangy characteristics as well. Growing but balanced bitterness in the finish. I quite like the silky feel, the chocolatey cherry flavors, the lack of over-roastedness, and the balanced bitter rounding out. This is actually a damn nice beer.
