marcus (918), Sacramento, California, USA May 12, 2008 This black ale poured with a tiny beige head. and a coca cola aroma. Carbonated raisin flavor with a bitter finish.
CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a transparent dark ruby mahogany with a spotty-lacing froth of light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty and biscuity malts with a touch of cinnamon and hazelnuts. Body starts with about average viscosity and lots of effervescent carbonation and a touch of sweet doughy malts before a drier thinner fizzy finish. Could use some more body and balance, but still pretty drinkable. Maria (3816), Thisted, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Courtesy of Fonefan. It’s dark brown with a red hue and a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and very light hints of smoke. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, licorice, coffee and the finish is slightly roasted and dry. It’s uncomplicated, but not quite as nice as Honig porter. DenverLogan (420), Oceanside, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Ruby brown...amber head with nice lace. Malt, hay and grain aroma. Dark malt, smoke, molassas, tea, cola, Brazil nuts, burnt toast. Different...certainly full bodied given the relatively low abv. Somewhat mineral and burnt malt finish. coldbrewky (462), Saugerties, New York, USA Jun 29, 2008 .3l bottle via the sloth. Boit, cher da greatest! Pours a deep iced tea brown with a film of a head. Hints and strings of ruby thru the tea in the glass. Vanilla tones in nose that clings to the beer. Body is Medium minus. Malt is caramelled just right and balances with steady soft carbonation. Some citruys tang about the body that melds into the finish and aftertaste Those kooky Belgians always with the positive waves! heemer77 (3611), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 20, 2008 Dark brown and copper body with a light khaki head. The aroma is light chocolate with some fresh bread dough. Taste of light baker’s chocolate with some prunes. There is also some decent bread dough. A relatively thin body. The prune note gets stronger as you drink more. More like a little stronger brown ale.
