bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA May 13, 2008 Something of a tobacco/cola aroma. Dark brown color with a beige head. Thin bodied with mild carbonation. Dark malt, but not too strongly flavored. Smooth and pleasant. Not to die for.
Bockyhorsey (1951), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Mild sweet roast along with some oatmeal. Black body with tan head. Thicke body texture and the chocolate was present which was good for me. Some sweet toasted grain in background. Good beer coco lingers on the palate. Ober (276), Best, Netherlands Aug 5, 2008 A dark brown, almost black colored beer, with a big foamy beige head. The aroma of chocolate with some raisins and fruity orange in the back. The taste of roasted malts, with chocolate some dark fruits. A very enjoyable beer. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jul 20, 2008 Pours a transparent dark ruby mahogany with a spotty-lacing froth of light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty and biscuity malts with a touch of cinnamon and hazelnuts. Body starts with about average viscosity and lots of effervescent carbonation and a touch of sweet doughy malts before a drier thinner fizzy finish. Could use some more body and balance, but still pretty drinkable. Maria (3963), Thisted, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Courtesy of Fonefan. It’s dark brown with a red hue and a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice and very light hints of smoke. The flavour has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, licorice, coffee and the finish is slightly roasted and dry. It’s uncomplicated, but not quite as nice as Honig porter. DenverLogan (420), Oceanside, California, USA Jul 13, 2008 Ruby brown...amber head with nice lace. Malt, hay and grain aroma. Dark malt, smoke, molassas, tea, cola, Brazil nuts, burnt toast. Different...certainly full bodied given the relatively low abv. Somewhat mineral and burnt malt finish.
