Draft at Farmers Cabinet. Very dark clear red pour with a large bubbly tan head that mostly disappears. Definitely feeling the Whiskey Barrels here so this must be the 2012 version. Tasting vegemite. Medicinal notes in the nose. Feels like an aged Scottish ale. Celery seed. Peat. Rotted dark red fruit. Medium body. Juicy despite the darkness. Nice challenging unique mix. Interesting try if you can find it.

Quite thick and syrupy. Has some smokey malts. Light whiskey flavour comes through in the aftertaste.

Clear dark purple brown to black beer, small aery off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit smoky, caramel, mocha, woody, sour touch, dark red fruits, blackberry jam. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: mocha, caramel, coffee as well, bit sour, berries, dark forest fruits, bitter. Aftertaste: alcohol, dark berries, mocha, coffee, dry, bit sour ending.

Draft sample @ 18th Christmasbeer festival in Essen. Dark red brown with little head. Smell is sweet woody blend of liquorice, sugar & syrup de Liège + malts. Taste is sweet liquorice, wine, vinous, glue, lightly roasted malts, very bitter herbs, wood, bitter coffee, sugar sweetness. m/m. Quite a bit better than the base beer, lovely.

Brune, col beige.
Arôme est malté avec ce léger bouquet de chêne, nez moyen épices et houblons.
Palais est agréablement bien malté, léger noisette, chêne plutôt bien placé tout en restant agréable en bouche. Pointe d’épice boisée et un fini houblonné citronné moyen. Agréable surprise de voir une bière finalement en fût d’un single malt belge quoique je n’ai pas vraiment détecté une grande influence de ce dernier. A revisiter.

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival 2012. Dark red brown color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, wood, some fruitpeel and a slight bitterness. Medium carbonation, low to medium body.

Sweet peaty aroma. Absolutely black. Cold coffee. Absolutely delicious. Rather smooth texture.
