Zwart & Straf Winterbier

UPDATED: AUG 3, 2014 33cl bottle Appearance: black color with an Off-white to caramel colored head that lasts quite long. Aroma of raisin/plum and licorice, quite sweet Taste: very sweet licorice taste, specially with the Anise. Finish is slightly more bitter coffee with some sourness. Quite some boozyness. oily texture, medium body and carbonation. A bit too much of cough syrup on sterroids to me..

Deep dark espresso black color. Off-white to caramel colored head that lasts quite long for such a heavy beer. Aroma of raisin/plum and a little cough drop. Interesting taste, some licorice, and a coffee finish. Very nice, especially on a cold day like this. Note: the label on my bottle says 75cl while it’s obviously 33cl. Ah, just another collectors-item in my collection.

Fles gedeeld met lachneger. Zeer donker bier. Aroma is dropperig. Smaak is vol in het begin. Zoet met licht zure afdronk. De afdronk is minder vol. Mooi bier.

Dark brown/black color with small tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma is weak with deep caramel malt and rich vinous notes. Flavor has nice cocoa & caramel malts with slight bitterness. A little bland compared to the great quads. Okay overall.

330 ml. bottle. Thanks Luke! Pours a dark reddish brown with a decent off-white head. Aroma of spice, fruit, and malt. Taste is sweet malt, dark fruit, spices, caramel, roast, and licorice. Different, but enjoyable.

Black, which makes think it's a stout. The white head clearly tells otherwise. The nose is fresh, lots of anise. Taste is rather flat, some raisins, chocolate and anise again. Which is such an odd spice to use in beers imo. Totally not fond of anise in beer.
