After the beer was served in the glass there was found a lasting quantity wall adhesive light brown foam collar which was fine and even of structure. The beer also contained much carbonic acid in the glass. The beer has a clear dark brown and a watery light sweet taste. The after tast of the beer is light hoppy bitter with a light roasted malty touch . This beer smells to roasted malt.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl, borderline stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Very very dark brown with a thick coating of foam overtop the beer and the side of the glass. Thick malt aroma like an ABT with a hint of chocolate. Palate is thick with a dustiness to it. Alcohol comes through as a slowly rising presence from front to back and into the aftertaste and is very well balanced. The taste has a bit of a wine character to it with dark almost smokey tobacco taste. A beer for cigars? Tasty but am I wrong to think a big beer should have a little more dancing or depth?

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium vast and slow disappearing light brown head on top of an almost completely black beer (just a tiny dark brown shine on the edges).
Smells roasted malts, raisin, barley, spices, anice, brown sugars, oatmeal.
Taste is a nice mix of roasted malts, sweet like fruit: raisin, prunes and brown sugars, coffee comes more through together with a nice bitterness, where the bitterness takes gently over. Also notes of spices, some grains, hint of something like sweet soya and a light sharpness but well balanced and disappears easily into the depths of this beer. Not that it is that deep, but it is good in taste!
A nice and good bitterness in the aftertaste with some hints of anice, roasted malts and herbs like grass.
Low to medium carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium to full body and a (light) creamy texture.
I hate the term Belgian strong ale for this one! I like this beer.

Bottle, bought @ Willems, Grobbendonk.
Pours deep brown chestnut with a firm, staying, creamy, beige head. Fine lacing. Aroma is lovely, plums, port, sherry, chocolate, sweet liqourice, light black currant. Medium carbonation, fine creamy and dry mouthfeel. Flavour has good sweetness at first, estery, plums, raisins, Belgian sugar, chocolate. Dry, dusty and quite bitter cocoa-notes in the finish. Mildly warming. Lovely.
