COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our dark beer has an original extract of 12.4% and contains 5.4% alcohol by volume. It is brewed entirely from dark malt with little hops using bottom fermenting yeast according to an old, monastery recipe. The result is a delicious beer with a full-bodied, malty taste.

A dlightly different beer by the sounds of Jacob’s notes. Draught beer at the brewery. Aroma was Smokey/Malty. Colour was clear and mid to dark brown. The head was just off white, but retained reasonably, well for a third of the 0.5l glass, but when swirled it brought the head right back in abundance, also refreshing the aroma - a beer on top condition as they say in the UK. The flavour was distinctly of crastal malt, fruit and a touch of chocolate, quite a complex beer, but what I call a good quaffing beer - similar to Paulaner Salvator, lower in alcohol, but larger in flavour. I’ll be back for more...

Bottle, thanks Bierkrug! Cloudy orange-brown, golden head. Spicy roasted and citric aroma. Burned caramel, herbal citrus, orangepeel, bready notes. Chewy full body, light sparkly mouthfeel. Light sticky on the palate. Roast and citrus aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with some sparse hoppy notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with roasty and sweetish touches of caramel malt and a hint of fruit. Mildly bitter finish. Decent.

33cl from tab at the brauhaus. Have a dark brown colour with a thin head. Aroma is caramel, coffee and toffee. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is bitter with some sweet notes and a long and bitter coffee aftertaste. Overall, a very nice beer.

Draft at the abbey. Poured nicely but seemed a thin mouthfeel for a dunkel. Hints of chocolate and malt were nice.

Rune (8042) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 14, 2007
500ml swing-top bottle brought back from Trier in Germany and enjoyed at home in Tromsø on a Saturday eve. Pours a big thick and rocky yellow-brownish head with good retention, blanketing the glass. Slightly hazy, tan body. Quite solid aroma of dark chocolate. Shortage of taste at first, then becoming malty as it warms. Skilful blend of dark and brown roasted malts with hints of raisin and nuts beneath. Dry and dusty aftertaste (13.10.2007).

50cl bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Dark amber brown with plenty of creamy tan head. Aroma is malt and old basement. Flavor is very malty, strong oak, slight alcohol. Medium body, high carbonation. Finish is lasting, slightly bitter.
