2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 19, 2007
500ml flip-top bottle brought home from Trier. Bottom fermented beer that pours a cloudy, orange body under a dense, white foamy head, reduced to a filmy layer after a short while. Moderate blend aroma of hops and malts. Pale malty taste followed by grain-like sweetness with fruity hops beneath. Dry ending. Fairly well made German Helles (Tromsø, 18.10.2007).

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MiP (12236) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - NOV 30, 2006
Bottle, 5.2% as Hell Naturtrüb. Cloudy golden colour. The flavour is a bit roasted, confusing. Gets acidic. But not bad.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ungstrup (26268) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - OCT 21, 2006
A hazy orange beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of caramel - and so is the flavor.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 bager (2121) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - SEP 24, 2006
Bottled. Pours hazy pale golden in colour with a rather small head. Somewhat malty and sweet but alsop with lots of hoppy and grassy notes. Feels sharp and not very wellbalanced. Slightly spicy and bitter finish.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 marcusm (55) - Remich, LUXEMBOURG - APR 2, 2005
Draught at the brewery:
Aroma was fruity hoppy and sweetish.
Colour was a murky gold, as is usual for German Micros, they don’t go in for heavy filtering, if the beer falls clear, good, if not that’s usual. The head was off white, and subsided pretty quickly, but given the low carbonation, I’m not suprised. I think these beers only have natural carbonation, unlike some other breweries that augment the pressure by gas - a good sign.
The flavour was of a fruity cream soda with light hop character ending in a slightly astringent sticky end - a good example of a Bavarian Vollbier/Helles.
I had the Schweinehaxe too, but unfortunately we were there right at the beginning of the lunch hour and the Hax’n were not all too well cooked, cooked yes, ready to be served no - but the waiter said it was the fact that they were cured beforhand - I don’t think so, I have had them the same way in Luxemburg where the meat fell off the bone, and the skin was really nice and crispy - apologies to the veggie community, I’m a confirmed carnivore.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hildigöltur (5106) - København, DENMARK - SEP 23, 2004
This abbey opened the brewery in May 2004, but shows no signs of unexperience with this great brew. Beautiful glowing hazy orange coloured. Fruity and hoppy aroma. Even though the brewery says that this beer is "schwächer gehopft als ein Pils", the flavour is very hoppy, much hoppier than most German pilseners. It is not extremely bitter, but is very hop-aromatic and flowery. Truly refreshing and a perfect match to the excellent Schweinehaxe of the abbey.
