Golden pour. Fluffy white head that starts dissipating quickly. Little bit of lacing left behind. A nice malty aroma with some hints of alcohol. A little bread. Sweet and dry taste of malt. Finishes with a little fruitiness. A little too much alcohol presence but masked, almost, by the malt sweetness.

Rated at Klosterbrau Nov 2011. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs), with notes of alcohol and passionfruit. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium to full body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. A passable rendition but rough and forgettable.

Draft at the brewpub. My favorite at my favorite stop in Bamberg. Golden, bright and clear with a sudsy white head. Mellow sugary edge with just a hint of alcohol. Deceptively easy to drink. (#4384, 12/2/2011)

Bottle. Golden clear. Few cereal aromas. Dry faint flavour of malts. Not very interresting beer. Prefer their other beers from this brewery.

Deep blond color; big head. Aroma of soap, paper, cereals, corn; later it shows some perfumy malt, but also feet; mild but catastrophic. Correct body strength; the malt flavor is mediocre, with light cereals tones and soap; there is some sweetness, but also alcohol perception, Band Aid and a light metallic finish.
Heller Bock is a difficult style, and this beer is not an exception.

Hefig-süßlicher Antrunk mit flachen Holzaromen und erkennbarem trockenen Alkohol. Im Mittelteil trockenener, wenig süß, hellmalzig. Zum Teil wirkt das Bier oxidiert und somit kaum frisch, zum Ende aber als Wiedergutmachung würziger, hopfiger, einfach intensiver. Wenig klebriger, hopfig-würziger Abgang mit leichten Bitternoten. 7/8/8/9/7/8

Draft. Warm gold with a small head. Smells sweet, malty, and fresh. Goes down well. Very sweet and alcoholic in nature but finishes clean and dry. Ultimately, it reminds me more of a malt liquor than I’d like.

Bronze colour. The aroma is bready-caramelly. Vaguely sweet, earthy, toasty with a fairly dry finish.

at Klosterbräu. Clear golden body and a average size creamy lasting head. Aroma of corn, warming alcohol and caramel. Oily texture and a long lasting bitter finish. Light sweet and medium bitterness.

Spicy, light juniper aroma. Golden, low carbonation, offwhite layer Spicy cookie malt base, really chewy and satisfying. Good grassy hop counter. Ginger cookie finish.
