Thanks to Guenther (pivnizub) for this brew! Pours a clear golden yellow with an off white head that goes pretty quickly to a ring. Smell is grain, sweet light malt, caramel and some light fruit. Taste is a nice blend of crisp hops, caramel and fruit ending dry and crisp with a hint of alcohol as well. Medium body with tickling carbonation. A nice light, hoppy dobblebock that I feel lucky to have tried!

Swing-top bottle, thanks Hart 03/02/13. Pours a hazy golden orange with a small, white, long-lasting head. Aroma is fairly sweet with orange, grain and orange peel. Quite vinous. Sherry as well. Taste is vinous too. Orange is prevalent as is wine gum. Light grain. Quite a bit of honey and sherry as well. Delicious. Palate is oily, somewhat carbonated, a bit mouth stickying. A superb beer.

Bottle, danke Günther! I was cheated, I thought I was opening a Kellerbier, oh well that will teach me to read the label. Looks like a nice ungespundetes though: Cloudy yellow, fine carbonation, rocky white head. Fairly honeyish aroma, cant quite hide the strength, also a hint butterscotch. Minerally entry, fruity calvados notes, aromatic hop play, light citric orangepeel in the finish. Fullbodied, pleasant mouthfeel. Unusual, rough, but tasty Doppelbock.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
old-fashioned swing-top-bottle from biershop-bayern. Clear golden colour, mid-sized white head leaving lacework. Intensively aromatic, sweet malty background with an alcoholic touch, intensive aromatic and bitter hops from the beginning, thus with a bitter-sweet overall character. Delicious.

(swing-top-bottle) Clear, golden colour with a dense and slightly off-white medium-sized foamy head. Delicately bready malty aroma with hints of biscuits and herbal, as well as subtle fruity hops. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft and well-matured carbonation. Hearty malt-character with notes of biscuits, honey, a subtle fruity touch and a well-embedded hoppy bitterness; lingering malty and rounded hoppy finish. Very balanced and delicious pale Doppelbock. 03.III.12

UPDATED: APR 7, 2012 Old-fashioned Bügelverschlußflasche: Clear, golden, creamy & lacy white head, moderate aromas of bisquits, pale malt in the nose, including a nutty and a barnyardy touch; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, very smooth with a silky MF; well balanced sweet-bitter finish with bisquits and malt, again, followed by a hoppy aftertaste. Devilishly moreish…

Bottle 50cl. Pours an oily, bright clear, deep golden appetising brew with a huge durable white head. Very nice appearance in the glass. Tasting: Hazelnuts, straw, hints of wild honey and butter toffee. Complex and massive malty body without being too sweet. Longlasting aftertaste, hides alcohol very well. A fantastic brew and the best pale doppelbock i drank so far. Thanks sister Doris!
