3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (3180) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a slight mahogany hue. Inch thick, dense and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is medium sweet malts with a touch of molasses, a light roast note, some raisin bread, and a light noble hopping. Flavor is similar. A light roast throughout with a bit of an noble hop note, some lightly sweetened malts with molasses hints, roast, bread, and a touch of spice. Finishes clean and dry with a light roasty bitterness and a bit of a sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and an active carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid schwarzbier. Clean, easy drinking, and flavorful. A touch sweet at times, but nicely balanced by the roasts and light hopping. Good one.
